Sorry, the decals were from Gil_M (he's on here somewhere). Absolutely perfect.

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Thanks, I'm pretty pleased with the results so far. Only had a short ride in the cold wind last night to sort out the gears and it seemed to ride pretty well - even with the narrow bars and long stem. The saddle feels pretty hard and uncomfortable but I'm sure with a bit of fiddling I'll get...

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

A few photos of what I've been up to...... Not all 100% retro, but in the retro spirit I think (i.e. rigid with cantis).

    Matt clear coat

Hi, Quick piece of advice needed. I have a frame that I have painted and I need to apply a clear coat/lacquer over the paint and decals (Plasti Kote paint). I am after a matt finish not gloss. Can anyone recommend something, preferably I can buy mail order. Thanks, Lewis

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail....with photos!!!

That is brilliant. As I continue my build of a '93 Bobcat I keep seeing them around, I even rode past one the other day that was being used for commuting around Bristol. Great condition, good find. Lewis

Green anodised things I don't really need

Hi all, Bit of a bike pimp, but I am after some green anodised M6 bolts for my brake levers and gear shifters - so a matching set of 4. I can't remember the exact length so long ones would be better as I could cut them down. Also a few (about eight) green anodised things for the end of my...

Got quite a stash of things from Si. All arrived as described, he polished up a set of XT cranks very nicley which was excellent. All good. Lewis

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Slow progress, but progress a least. The last few weeks have been spent chopping and painting. The extra bits of metal for panniers etc were hacked off with my trusty hacksaw, then filed down until they were smooth with the frame underneath. The frame looks a lot cleaner to the sad few (like...

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Finally. Finally after hours the old paint is now off the frame and somewhere outside mixed in among the gravel and the grass. I late night trip to B and Q just before they shut allowed me to buy some wire wool and rubber gloves. However the wire wool I bought was too fine a grade so great for...

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Thanks. I had one of those catalogues (in English) that I must have read a hundred times as a young boy, dreaming of one of the top the range Marins.

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Not sure if there was much difference. I am sure someone on here is more knowledgable about the bike industry but I'd have thought that many of the Marin branded components would be the same from bike model to bike model, maybe just changing in colour. Surely it would be cheaper to keep the...

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Frame still developing but slowly. Once I have stripped all the rest of the paint from the frame I am going to try and sort out the inside of the frame, to treat the rust that is there and stop it getting worse in years to come. So my question, to those in the know, is what is the best way to...

1993 marin bobcat trail.FINITO. now owned by mikef350

With my bb on my Bobcat it would just not move, then the plastic non-drive side cup shattered allowing my thumb to be pinched between spanner and frame. So I then used an M8 bolt from an old seat post to hold the bb tool in place. Finally I extended my adjustable spanner by using a couple of...

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

I spent the afternoon today wearing a pair of extra small yellow rubber gloves that made my hands sweat too much and a pair of goggles that were also so tight my eyes sweated for two and a half hours. I thought that working on a bike would be a bit different to the things I now do daily round...

Excellent work so far. If you need stickers try Gil_M - he sorted some '93 Bobcat Trail stickers for me a few weeks ago. I'll keep an eye on this as my '93 Bobcat slowly comes together. Lewis

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

At the moment I have stripped it down (including a LOT of hassle with getting a seized BB out, plastic cup shattering etc). Next is to Nitro Mors the old paint from the frame, fork, handlebars, stem, bottle cage, seat QR. I'll see how this goes, but at the moment I think it is too cold outside...

    1993 Marin Bobcat Trail

Here goes at the start of my project... New to this forum with the exception of buying a few bits here and there. Hello all. Very addictive this old bike stuff! Anyway it all started back in 1993 when I got my first proper mountain bike, a Marin (soon to be uncool?) Bobcat Trail. My dad...
