Recommendations for an old timer who feels like a noob.

Thanks guys. Castrol grease is something I have used for ever and I swear by it and will continue to do so. WD40 is some I only use as a cleaner, it isn't much use as anything else. As for the tyres, yup, I noticed limited choice in the 700 x 20c range and a huge choice in sizes above that so...

Recommendations for an old timer who feels like a noob.

Sorry if the following seems a bit of a basic question but as I have been out of the cycling circle for almost 20 years I am noticing many things have changed, some good, some not so good. The length of time out of cycling means I am not sure what is good or bad any more among certain brands...

    Raleigh Criterum Triathlon 12

I used to have one a long time ago, love it. I plan on making some big improvement with age related products. I bought it as my 12 year old wants to give cycling a go. So its a good way to get out with him. TBH I think I will really get the bug back.

    Raleigh Criterum Triathlon 12

Spent around an hour or so giving the bike a clean so I could see what was under the dirt. The frame is straight and has no dents or dings and the paint work is excellent with no scratches. The wheels are true with no loose spokes. The wheels have a couple of small marks which a good clean...

    Raleigh Criterum Triathlon 12

Bought this off ebay for the huge sum of £34.01p. Think the fact it was advertised as a Triumph helped me get it cheap. It should have arrived on Tuesday but a certain courier did their best to loose it. Any way two days later than planned, it arrived. I took it out of the box to reveal...

To keep original or upgrade retro style?

Thanks everyone. Supposed to have received the bike today but the courier got labels mixed up so my bike is missing in action at the moment. So I have further time to think what I am going to do while they find it.

That is lush. I would be tempted if it was bigger.

To keep original or upgrade retro style?

Yes unless I catch the retro bug in which case no

To keep original or upgrade retro style?

I am awaiting a delivery of a Raleigh Criterium Triathlon 12. All looks original with the exception of rear freewheel which is a 5 speed instead of a 6 and the fact it has no decals. Now I know this isn't a top end bike and has no real prestige as a retro bike but, I have a lot of fond memories...

Unstable bike or unstable rider - you decide!! UPDATED QUERY

Re: Unstable bike or unstable rider - you decide!! UPDATED Q Yes it can. An incorrectly adjusted headset or worn head bearings can also contribute. Check tyre pressures as well.

    Work bikes

Here is my work horse. It has an issue with the gears at the moment which I need to sort. The Voodoo will soon be sharing the load with this retro Raleigh. And I use my favourite toy on a Tuesday.

Unstable bike or unstable rider - you decide!! UPDATED QUERY

Re: Unstable bike or unstable rider - you decide!!! I had a problem like this and it was the headset that required a little tightening. If it was pulling to one side I would have said bent forks. Also check wheel bearings and cones aren't loose.

    Oooooof, Ha ha ha

Now that is funny. Have to say I hate those prats that run along side the riders especially when they really close.

    What size you reckon?

If this was old style retro bike from the 80's or earlier I would have said no it isn't big enough. As it's a newer style bike I would say it is big enough. The angle of the photo doesn't help as it's difficult to tell if the top tube slopes down to the seat tube or is straight. Judging by the...

    Campag spares help

Friend of of mine has a Campag Mirage 8 speed rear mech (97/98 range) that has a snapped cable adjuster bolt. Unfortunately trying to source one locally is proving difficult. Any ideas guys? I know it isn't very retro but the guy is off the road because of that one bit.
