How much would you pay for a vintage Miyata 1000?

That cleaned up really nice. Hard to believe the previous owner cracked a crank arm on a touring bike. $275 is a great price for a Miyata 1000 even with some wear and tear.

    (Yet another) Ellis Briggs.

Yes, time to work on bikes is at a premium and if its your day job I could see it being even more difficult to motivate yourself to finish a project build. I will say though that the ride of my Ellis Briggs compared to my other vintage road bike is significantly nicer.

    (Yet another) Ellis Briggs.

Oh, you should finish them up. Mine is very nice to ride.

What's the used vintage bike market like where you live?

No worries. Its interesting how Brits and Aussies have such a different perspective on the brand name to Canadians of my generation. Here is the thread I created on my 1980'ish Apollo (Kuwahara) Gran Sport https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/apollo-gran-sport-canadian-brand-by-kuwahara.348893/...

What's the used vintage bike market like where you live?

No, the Canadian Apollos were built by Kuwahara for a Vancouver business man when he had trouble sourcing bikes from England. They are considered moderate to good quality Japanese frames.

    One bike!? What is it?

I think if I was going to one vintage bike it would be a drop bar modified hybrid or touring bike. If it was one mountain bike / ATB it would be a fully rigid early mid to high end steel Kona, Rocky Mountain, Brodie, etc. Although I did really enjoy riding my Zaskar when it was built up -...

What's the used vintage bike market like where you live?

I'm in Vancouver and don't see this. Everyone who is asking pre-covid prices on their vintage bikes don't seem to be selling them. People were asking $500-600 on CraigsList for good quality Apollos and I can't get $200 for mine at the moment.

1996 Deore LX SL-M569 better or worse than a modern Altus SL-M315?

Grant Pederson is a big Altus rear mech fan, but he runs them friction. If you run friction shifters you don't have to worry about a ghost gear and can run up to 10 speed in the rear.

Suntour Command Shifters - anyone upgrade to Shimano pull ratios/more speeds?

I have a set of Suntour Command Shifters - I think the original version. I ran them for a while on my Ritchey Ultra with dirt drops and a shimano rear cluster. I didn't appreciate that Suntour and Shimano used slightly different spacings/pull ratios when they were in the indexing war and they...

What's the used vintage bike market like where you live?

I've been needing to make some space in my garage/bike shed and have been trying to sell a couple of vintage bikes and the market seems completely dead. Or the prices have dropped so much that I'm waaaaaay overpriced at 60% of what I paid for the bikes originally 5 or so years ago. And these are...

Thank you. Really interesting that in the photo they show it on a bike running a threadless stem.

    (Yet another) Ellis Briggs.

Looks nice - hope the BB isn't cracked. I have an Ellis Briggs that was gifted to me by the previous owner - I believe that its a mid 70's Favori of some sort from what he told me of the frame before it was resprayed. Mine doesn't have the touring light mount on the fork - I've always associated...

    Retro/Classic brakes for a tour.

I googled around looking for these and came up with nothing. Probably using the wrong terms. Can you share a link to a seller please?
