    1980s Somec Special (Finished 2)

The blue looks nice. Maybe do a test with a scrap of tape before you commit to the bars unless you are using blond shellack.

    Early Rocky Mountain Road frame.

According to this link https://groups.google.com/g/dc.biking/c/d0xs448zuIU?pli=1 RM made its first aluminum mountain bike in 89 - the Stratos. I remember my classmate getting one of the first generation Stratos bikes and the rest of us being very impressed. My understanding is that they road...

    Pre 1999?

They can a bit, but it also may be partly me getting used to riding with them. I have multiple shifting systems on my different bikes (STI, Gevenalle, DoubleTap, bar ends, Command / butterfly shifters) and it takes a bit to get used to each one when I start riding.

Rapid rise -- stick or shift?

I'd be tempted to change my whole drivetrain to rapidrise. Rivendell is working on the development of a new rapidrise rear mech so Grant P obviously likes it. I haven't read the whole thread, but if you're selling it I'm interested.

    Pre 1999?

I like them. I have them mounted on my Ellis Briggs which is running a combination of second generation Suntour Cyclone up front and Shimano 500 long cage in the back with a vintage 6 speed freewheel and velo orange drillium chain set. they are paired with first generation Dura Ace brake levers...

the cult is real - '91 Bridgestone RB-1

I have a lot of respect for what Bridgestone USA was doing in the 80's and 90's. What is the clearance like? 28's, 32's? I think I read that Pineapple Bob used to ride his RB1 CX back in the day.

    1983 Kuwahara Count

Kuwahara made bikes under the Apollo brand name in Canada during the 70's and 80's. They were very popular and the Apollo 10 speed was ubiquitous during my childhood until the exchange rate made Japanese manufactured bikes less attractive. The sold their bikes under the Kuwahara brand for a few...

    Pre 1999?

That's really good news. I have a lot of trouble finding comfortable saddles.

This is really a wonderful collection. Such beautiful bikes. I keep coming back to look at them over and over. Thanks for sharing them with us. You said the Holdsworth had an odd wheel size. Do you know what that is off the top of your head?

Interesting. I was under the impression it was the latter. Still too far away to make purchasing anything a reasonable financial prospect. Plus I'm trying to downsize my collection due to space constraints.

    1983 Kuwahara Count

I'm not a huge fan of the red saddle, but otherwise a really nice looking bike
