    XTR M985. 211g front, 245g rear (Caliper, Hose and Brake lever). Enough power to send you over the bars with one finger, and good modulation.

    Are M975 XTR brakes really this crap?

    not overly useful, but I say bin'em and get M985's, I have heard of a few people complain about the lack of power etc on the m975's. The M985/8 will chuck you over the bars with one finger if your not careful, and also modulate nicely.

    Always gotta be XTR (or equivalent level). I would rather have 1 bike with decent gear, than multiple bikes with 'lesser' gear. Yes I am a tart.
