    1997 Proflex 957 resto/build thread - FINISHED! wooo

Yes, was an old skool mk3 Supra turbo - Went well but very unreliable. My Skoda is quicker anyway lol. I don't even live where the first few photos were taken which shows how long ago it was I started this project..... I also like the decals on the black frame. I sometimes can't help...

Threadless 1 1/8" headset needed complete-Deore LX for After getting a threaded Deore LX headset a while back, found out my Pace forks are threadless with just the top hat bolt thing..... The forks wobble significantly in my old headset (quite bad! :D) so I need a replacement that I can...

Fuel economy - What do you get?

Since this thread was last updated, I've began tracking my real fuel economy, and its averaging out around 46mpg over the last 2,500 miles, including a 15 minute blast on the Castle Combe Circuit. I'm also on track this Saturday, but think I'll be discounting that tank of fuel.... Still...

    1997 Proflex 957 resto/build thread - FINISHED! wooo

    NOLEEN REAR SHOCK

I bought it in 2000 and the previous owner fitted the Pace forks. The carbon swingarm is original, but it looked so manky I ended up sanding it smooth, priming and painting to match the rest of the paintwork. Really it should be polished alloy for oem frame look, but like my cars, I love black...

Pair of wheels for V-brakes + 8 speed XT cassette

    NOLEEN REAR SHOCK

Sorry for the huge bump, but I don't like starting my own ones when chat is already underway. I have a Noleen rear shock which is empty/dead, on my Proflex 957 and want to see about recharging it. Best effort at the moment seems to be buying a complete unit from the US for about 200 bucks...

    Assembling a headset - manual/pics?

I have 40 bearings separately packaged in an envelope. Thanks for the info - will digest it when my head isn't so full of cold. I don't think I could figure out 2 + 2 in my current health state... [SNEEZE!] I can't see from the above how the bearing cage works. Appears to be identical...

    Assembling a headset - manual/pics?

Have received my new headset today, only I cannot see how it really goes together. It's a Shimano LX one. I have a bag of bearings and the various parts/casings from the headset. Is there a manual / guide to help me assemble this correctly when I refit my front end to my bike?

"New" gears for my proflex 957?

damnit! Looks like I will be needing to buy a new 8 speed chain then (shows how much of a newb i am with MTBs....) I "might" be able to salvage my old chain but I think by the time I come to re-chain it up, it will be pretty rusty! :(

"New" gears for my proflex 957?

With my rebuild I fancied trying to refresh some of the gearing, and found someone on a local car forum who offered me some Shimano Deore bits. What I got here is the following XT 9 speed chain & cassette Silver Deore rear mech (Says "Shimano Mega drivetrain" on it) Matching front mech 3...
