    Raleigh brake part needed

Re: Paul, just found the parts in a local bike shop in Pangbourne. I discovered Pankhurst cycles today and they deal in a lot of retro bikes as well as new ones. I asked him for the part and he pulled out a big box, full of old brakes! I will no doubt be back there every weekend! Thanks for...

    Raleigh brake part needed

Re: You're a legend Paul. You don't know how many hours I've been trawling the web looking for these! Looking for 2 of them. The slots have been rounded off on mine, so when you pull the brakes they don't return to the middle. If you have Paypal, please PM me your details and I will send money...

    Raleigh brake part needed

Hi All, I am looking for the rubber/plastic part pictured for my 1980's Raleigh brakes. I can't seem to find anything on Google, all I can see is a complete set of brakes. Any ideas where I can find a few of these for good money? Thanks!

Is it just me, or is this bike really sexy?

I'm not too interested in the gears etc, more the colours and different materials! I am really looking for a colour scheme for my boys new Raleigh, it's 30 years old and in dire need of a re-spray. He wants yellow, I want green.... I expect he will get is way!!

    Raleigh Equipe rebuild

So this weekend I picked up my wheels from Pedalon (http://www.pedalon.co.uk) They are a great bunch of guys, very knowledgeable and helpful. They trued my wheels for me (much needed) and I picked up a couple more needed items. I also received a few items in the post. Pedals, water bottle and...

    Newbie with a question

Does anyone have any ideas on these spindle sizes? I would really like to order some to replace the old ones! I might just have to go to the nut and bolt shop in Basingstoke, I expect they may have some. Gunter.

    Newbie with a question

I've sustained no injuries in the past years, but still struggle to get up the hills...I guess 25 years of smoking doesn't help, but that's in the past :-) Wheels going in tomorrow for true'ing, spokes being adjusted so they ride nice and straight. Ordered some nice goodies on Ebay as well, so...

Thanks for all of the positive words guys. I am really looking forward for the first ride out. I think I might put one "Raleigh" decal back on somewhere, just have to decide where!

    Raleigh Equipe rebuild

Re: I collected the frame today. It looks superb, well finished and very shiny. The powder coaters sprayed a clear coat over the top as well, making the finish more durable. The main concern I had was that they didn't mask the threads and holes properly, and it took ages to clean out. Every...

Re: Re Good looking bike Meejoir. That is sweet! I know what you mean, but I really want to try and keep the budget down... I have been told that my frame is ready for collection tomorrow morning. I can't wait, pics to follow!

The 3M tape you get nowadays is awesome, they use it to stick road signs up with. Best to use VHB, (very high bond) and you will struggle to get it off again :-)

Maca, The pins on the back of my badge broke off when I removed it. I wanted to get a new one with pins on, but saw that the other one on ebay has double sided tape...so I will do the same and re-use mine!

Thanks for the reply Ghosty. This is my first experience with a retro bike, so I'm not sure what is good and bad. My aim is to rebuild it on a shoestring budget and have a retro bike to have a blast on the odd dry weekend. I expect it will cost me £300 when it is all done, and I will keep it for...
