Long legs short torso: More comfortable frame, (Kona,GT,DBR)

Re: Long legs short torso: More comfortable frame, (Kona,GT, Gorgeous DBR Axis Pyro Tim, love that color scheme, those are very difficult to find in my area. Not much on Ebay either. There are a few Trek Singletracks for sale around here, I would try an 18" and 19.5". And from a BMX background...

Long legs short torso: More comfortable frame, (Kona,GT,DBR)

For a rider 6'1" with very long legs compared to torso. Looking for a steel rigid frame. Something fast for trails, yet it can commute comfortably, long distances on street. Basically a racey yet comfortable steel hardtail. Frame with short-ish top tube that is semi-sloping. Bars slightly below...

    DBR Axis TT Sizing??

You guys have been great. Much appreciated. The Axis and Apex do seem to be a good bikes for what I'm looking for, on paper at least. A more compact and more upright geometry vs. a 1994 GT Bravado LE. In general, I'm looking for a rigid trail bike/commuter that is on the comfortable side. At...

    DBR Axis TT Sizing??

So an 18" has a 22.5" effective top tube it seems. Its strange the magazine article quotes it as 23.5", you can see the information on the bottom right of the image. Both of the geometry charts that I have say 22.5" effective top tube length however. From ogling hundreds of photos of them, the...

    DBR Axis TT Sizing??

Thank you for the response. The head tubes on the Diamondbacks do seem a little taller than the GT's of that era. Plus the slight rise in the Top Tube, seems like good geometry, still wondering, very interested in an Axis or Apex.

    DBR Axis TT Sizing??

Yes major thread resurrection. However I am very interested in this topic. Seriously interested in getting an 18" 1993-1997 Diamondback Axis or Apex. The geometry is confusing though. From the pictures online they seem to have a very balanced rise in the Top Tube. Not too flat but not too tall...

    Work bikes

"The Goat" - 1993 GT Karakoram 18": Have had it for about 4 years. Its a great climber, can run well, and pretty nimble. Love it for commuting, trails, and general hack-stuff around the neighborhood. The steel frame and steel fork have a very nice feel. Forgiving, fast enough, and very...

1996 GT Zaskar 19" (Red Anodized)

That is awesome. IMHO they look mean in Black. Like a panther in the grass, or a stealth bomber flying low. Here are some pics from a guy who was selling one in my area. No decals, black, very Stealth. Yes, the idea of a street GT Zaskar has entered my imagination before. Silver, black, or...

1996 GT Zaskar 19" (Red Anodized)

Thank you. Yeah that was the derailleur on the bike when I found it. Definitely needs to be changed. It is beat up. Just says "Deore" on it. It may even be a 7-speed derailleur . You are correct as well on the crankset. Alivio cranks they are pretty blunt and giving problems. Both of...

1996 GT Zaskar 19" (Red Anodized)

"The Tiger" - 1996 GT Zaskar 19": Saw this beast for sale online about 5 years ago. It was a little run down. Manitou Spyder fork, no decals, Alivio shifters, Deore rear derailleur, cheap Alex wheels. But the frame had caught me. It looked Mean and spirited. In the sale photo, it was inside...
