Very interesting. I bought my Prestige frame new in (I think) 1993 for £300 and it's still going strong. The bottom bracket cable routing is by a funny little extra lip of metal so the cables run above the bottom bracket shell out of the way of mud and stuff.

Damn, I missed this thread until today. Mind you I couldn't have been out for the whole day as I had to leave for the north mid-afternoon. (I called in at Rutland Cycles on the way and spent far too much on a new full-bounce bike on a semi-impulse.)

Thanks for the useful replies. So the fork is the next step. Any idea what size (diameter - it's 22cm long) steerer I should be looking for? I always fancied the look of the Manitou forks above that of Rockshox, but I'm not too fussy!

I've been given a frame that I've worked out must be from 1999: It came with the seatpost but nothing else. The rest of the stuff on it I had laying around. Any idea what these forks are? And, if they're no good, what would be in keeping to match the rear? All advice...
