New Cable Routing - Stressed! :(

Yep I'm going to put fresh tape on, I only wrapped these during the build as the bars kept spinning round and hitting the frame when working on it.

New Cable Routing - Stressed! :(

Thanks for that legrandefromage. Yep I bought 2 packs, a gear cable and outer pack and a gear one. So the rear mech shifter on the right hand side is going to the left non drive side then cable criss crossing underneath the bike. Coolio thanks :) P.S. Rear pic helps too, thanks 8)

New Cable Routing - Stressed! :(

Evening guru's. OK.. (sigh)… cable routing. I'm stressed this evening because I don't know what I'm doing   I have managed to install new brake cable outers and set them up and they are both looking fine, enough cable for them to be wrapped in bar tape and not much excess...

Cable Guide - Hmm looks wrong to me?

Cheers NeilM - Yep it is a bit time consuming doing the images in Photoshop but like you say, for anyone else needing answers hopefully it will be invaluable to them. I owe a great lot to you guys and your knowledge, only fair I give back best I can :) Thanks Sand_Dune :) yep shes really close...

Cable Guide - Hmm looks wrong to me?

I did wonder that pigman but it took so much pressure to make the plastic bend to where it needed to be I feared if I screwed it in it may pop the screw back out again. Had I not had the original I would have used steam from the kettle to try and get a better bend on it and fit.

Cable Guide - Hmm looks wrong to me?

Problem solved 8) Thanks fellas for the input and having me look at this from a different angle. OK so the problem was, it wasn't the right part!  So no one buy YF 007 because it does not contour to the frame. When laid on the frame the correct way round it snags and the...

Cable Guide - Hmm looks wrong to me?

No mate I don't think so, I tried it the other way and the long part of the plastic just hits the chain stay bits and won't sit flush at all.

Cable Guide - Hmm looks wrong to me?

Afternoon chaps. Hope y'all watching the tour 8) OK so I have been stressing over this cable guide business, I had to break the rivet out the old one when I had the frame painted and it was recommended to me to buy the one below, but I have had no way of installing it as there is just a clean...

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

Wow Sand_Dune some pearls of wisdom there! Thanks so much for that. Need a cup of tea and read it a few times to get the full jist but I love the idea of tapping a drilled hole in the dropouts, problem solved :) I think I have a tap set and never used it, I shall dig the tools out and see if...

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

Thanks for the suggestions Woz, I've got a Dremel here, might be a plan if necessary as it looks thick enough.

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

OK update  Going with the washer theory (thanks for that!) I looked at the original banana wheelset and saw there were 2 washers, one on each side of the axle, so I pinched those and cleaned them up. I put one washer on the drive side axle where it seems to be fouling the rear...

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

What do other people do with a Banana when they install a new style mech, seen it on loads of them on google images. Struggling to see how a washer will help will that not just give further space for it to just bind onto, maybe a small washer on the nut so that the rear mech converter doesn't...

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

Thanks legrandefromage, but what size spacer / washer and where?

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

OK that did work, but, it's right on the very edge and I mean, edge, one knock and the wheel would be out  So this rear mech converter is the problem, I hope theres an alternative? This is the one that was recommended to me though. I think it's installed correctly.

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

I've just taken tyre and tube off to have a proper look. It appears to be the silver part of the rear mech hanger that goes inside the dropouts with the bolt in that's touching the cassette and when I lock the QR its pinching and holding it.
  19. ThePowster

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

It already spins inside the hanger without closing the QR skewer. When I close it too even with moderate pressure it must be pinching something and the cassette locks.

New wheel set install, cassette not moving?

OK so I have just undone the rear QR and it span freely, but when its locked in place even with moderate pressure it locks the cassette solid.
