    Diamond Back Apex ‘Raw’ Frame

Hi, Recently picked up this Diamond Back Apex frame (believe it’s from 94). It joins my DB Wildwood commuter/tourer, a bike that’s taken me all over the UK and been an absolute work horse commuting all year round! Anyway, I got this Apex frame as a couple of friends and I are building up old...

    Wanted: Front Brake!

Hi guys, Long time since i've been on. I've been super busy settling into Uni. I'm still riding my recently restored 1973 Falcon Black Diamond with its coaster brake. After a few road rides here in Bristol, I've decided that i need a front brake to compliment the coaster. The city riding is a...

What colour bartape on my blue frame?

Yeah I was thinking of using an old bit of inner tube to space it out and protect the paintwork! I ordered the 20mm so I'll see how it fits when it arrives

What colour bartape on my blue frame?

Re: Thanks matey! Yeah i suppose you're right... I'll look at getting a flat bar lever for a front brake set up Dont suppose any of you guys know where i can get a Brake Arm Clip for the Coaster Brake Arm... I've found one for the Sram Automatix and it comes in sizes 20mm and 22mm. What size...

What colour bartape on my blue frame?

Thanks everyone, Cant wait to get it finished now! Rear hub is now at my local deport, so it should be delivered later today :D Just need a new strong chain I have thought about a front brake. My worry is that if the chain snaps, i wont have any brakes. I've never ridden a coaster brake...

What colour bartape on my blue frame?

I decided against white as the bike will be used as an all weather commuter and not just a weekend bike. I've had white grips on my MTB before, and they were a pain to keep clean. Went for red in the end. At first, i was a bit unsure on them. The bike has been in my room for the past few...

What colour bartape on my blue frame?

Re: Thanks for those responses! Never thought of white with red, that would look rather cool! That's what I was worried about, I thought if the saddle and tape don't match then it will look odd, but you're right it's only cheap to buy so if it does look silly it won't be much of a loss...

What colour bartape on my blue frame?

I'm having a right struggle trying to choose grip colour. I've already had black as you can see, however i'm going to buy some of that shiny retro tape and i'm tempted to change colour. Part of me wants red, but i think it might be a bit too much. Silver looks cool, or should i just keep it...

Mini Clearout! Campagnolo Drivetrain and Weinmann Brakeset

All these parts are off my 1973 Falcon Black Diamond which i have recently restored. I'm heading off to Uni, and so instead i'm going to be building it up with an Internal Geared Coaster Brake Rear Hub to have a maintenance-free bike for riding around the city... Therefore these parts are...

HELP Removing Campagnolo Regina Extra 5 Speed Freewheel

I will check them out... I've only ever used Shimano on my Mountain bike, so i might check out what they have... I havent been able to get the freewheel off yet, mainly due to being busy, but i've just flushed it through with oil and water penetrating spray and its now running good as new. It...

HELP Removing Campagnolo Regina Extra 5 Speed Freewheel

Yes thats correct, the freewheel still looked in good nick and the original owner said he'd barely used the bike so i just replaced the chain at the time, but you're probably right with that being the reason for the skipping/slipping when putting the power down. I did cut corners on this build...

HELP Removing Campagnolo Regina Extra 5 Speed Freewheel

Chain was fresh with the restoration, so has probably only done about 150 miles... I doubt it would have work too much? I'll get a new freewheel and then re-adjust all the gears. It was nice having them in comparison to my old SS/FG, but i never felt as fast on this bike... I'll see how i'm...

HELP Removing Campagnolo Regina Extra 5 Speed Freewheel

In terms of replacement, i think i'm going to try a single speed freewheel. The original 5 speed Campag gears work okay, however i've never had the confidence to properly stamp down on the pedals incase they slip. I feel like if i go for a single speed set up, it will not only be more reliable...

HELP Removing Campagnolo Regina Extra 5 Speed Freewheel

Thanks for that help mate, I just assumed it was Campag as that was what the rest of the drivetrain was... I will try your ghetto method first, i like doing the stuff myself. Decided i'd install the headset cups instead of taking it to the LBS and it was very satisfying when i done them right...

HELP Removing Campagnolo Regina Extra 5 Speed Freewheel

Hello everyone, The original Campagnolo Freewheel on my 1973 Falcon Black Diamond has finally given up the ghost. I had the bike in the work stand, and whilst pedaling forward is fine, freewheeling is very limited, and instead the cranks continue to spin like a fixie! Now, i've done some...

Recently Restored Falcon Black Diamond 1973 Retro Racer

Looking to part with my Falcon. Having recently restored this, with a full respray, service and a list of new components, its a shame to see it go, however i believe its too nice of a frame to take away with me to Uni, and it would be a waste to leave it sitting at home. My main hobby is MTB, so...
