    And today I did......

Re: Today (actually most of the week) I've mainly been hobbling around at home due to a damaged disc in my lower back  Not been very active on here lately and not been near a bike for ages but now counting the days until I'm fit enough to get back out for even the shortest of rides...

    And today I did......

Re: Yeah I think that was when they realised that SPD shoes with Velcro fastenings weren't much cop in Scottish mud  It's something I always remember as I bought shoes that had laces as well as Velcro straps from then on. I was just a spectator that day but it must have made an...

    And today I did......

Re: Had the pleasure of riding with Sally Hibberd for a weekend when she came to the Hawick CC BITD. Was suitably star struck (besotted  ) with a pro rider like her coming to our wee club and riding our trails. Good times :D

    And today I did......

Re: I don't recall a lot about the race as I must have been about 14 at the time, seem to remember it was a muddy one though? and Thomas Frischknecht won walking across the line with his bike above his head as a protest against the course conditions?

    And today I did......

Re: Remember seeing Tim at the Strathpeffer world cup race when I were a lad, there's no much of him so not surprised he flew up the hills and is still threatening Strava records now!

    And today I did......

Re: I was surprised how heavy my Cinder Cone felt when I first picked it up too and mine is the teeny tiny version  I'm hoping to start commuting to work at some point this year, once I finally move nearer work that is (the 155 miles isn't quite achievable atm!). At least you're on the...

    Buzzing feet

Re: I used to suffer from something similar when out on the road bike where I would feel vibration in my feet and eventual numbness or pins and needles. I bought some better clipless shoes (Mavic with properly stiff carbon soles) and have never had the same issue again. The previous shoes I was...

    Raleigh Mirage Seatpost size?

Re: I have an 89 version (white one) which is essentially the same frame and the post measures 27.0mm dead with my calipers. The bike is stuck in a cupboard ATM so I'll try and drag it out tomorrow and confirm the size stamped on the seatpost.

Giro d'Italia Attack of the Frome

Re: I don't understand how people don't have a bad taste in their mouth about the history of competitive cycling. Some seem to be holding up the era of Roche etc as a shining light of all that's good and pure about cycling before this nasty modern era where everyone is on something and no...

There's really no need for that, if you want one of us to teach you how to set up a derailleur gear set-up properly all you have to do is ask

Re: The only potential issue I could see is mixing Shimano shifters with suntour cassettes, or vice versa, due to slightly different spacing. Check out Sheldon Brown's site for the info but I'm sure it'll be fine.

    1988 Kona Cinder Cone?

Re: I think I'm right in saying the 88 & 89 Cinder Cones were the same spec., the catalogue in the archive certainly is titled 1988/1989. Kona was founded in 1988 so can't be any older than that an as Jim says the 1990 model had a different spec. (Suntour XCD as opposed to Mountain LX on the...

    Very Original Cinder Cone

Re: Different seller id but still in Sheffield, seems a bit dodgy if you ask me. They had it listed on here too, with no reply when I pointed out that it wasn't a MK1 as they were claiming but updated the eBay listing accordingly. I'm not a fan of the sales BS in this and other listings, puts...
