    Iconic photo of Jason McRoy

He and Missy shared the habit of wearing trinkets from their parts boxes or neck cords, not the safest idea perhaps, but nor is downhill mountain biking.

Re: Icon photo of Jason McRoy I think you'll find he's wearing it around his neck.

Guess what? A frame ID request

Ritchey dropouts are found on any number of manufacturers frames. The colour matched Tange fork makes me think mid to late 1980s. The paint is in such good shape I'd almost think it was a recent re-coat, the presence of the headset but no decals also points that way - if it was a NOS Japanese...

Guess what? A frame ID request

Something familiar about that seat lug. Can you post pictures of the dropouts? Also, is that number on the head tube the only marking or is there a serial number elsewhere?

Question regarding a Moots I'm about to buy

Frame looks to be a late 1990s / early 2000s YBB, stem is Thomson, drivetrain XTR M95X. Price out a current YBB frame and an Eriksen post, I don't think this is such a bad deal.

Canti M system cartridge pads for lx br-565e

I think maybe Swisstop make cartridges for that holder. But I would recommend switching to these: TRP In-place post mount canti pad holders - lots of pad options for every kind of rim. Get them here: http://www.amazon.com/TRP-Inplace-Canti ... B004XYJ41K Not cheap, but excellent!

A2z adaptor mounting HELP!!! and what year is this bike??

Re: A2z adaptor mounting HELP!!! and what year is this bike? Your bike is a 2003, I've got no real suggestions for the adapter, short of grinding the raised sections flush with the rest of the dropout, which I wouldn't recommend. Then again, I also wouldn't recommend putting a rear disc brake...

Why wouldn't you just use m900 canti's? I have them on my cross bike and they're awesome.

    anybody know what this is??

That's steel, and really nothing like the OP's bike. LGF is right, you lot need to learn the essential differences between a steel and aluminum frame. I remember owning one of these, branded as a Claud Butler - I stripped it and polished it, then later sold it to someone for 100 quid. He stuck...

    What are these segmented forks?

Yep, definitely Giant, had a bike in the shop just last week sporting a pair.

Do bike shops have any idea about retrobikes?

I work at a bike shop. I started out just wrenching and now my time is split between wrenching and sales. We have a strict policy that every customer is treated the same, from the $7000 carbon road bike rider to the "just need it to get me to work" BSO rider. I find the customers riding 15, 20...

    1993 GT Corrado > Richter 8.0 - Tioga build

Re: 1993 GT Richter 8.0 I wanted a Richter pretty badly BITD, and even after having owned and sold a Xizang, I still think it would be a cool bike to have. Good luck bringing this one back. The caustic soda method is super effective if you have the nerves for it. I saved my '95 Singletrack...

Replacing mech limit screws with something more colourful?

Re: Replacing mech limit screws with something more colourfu Before you do that, bear in mind that a if you strip or break one of those flimsy anodized bolts you will render the derailleur useless. The stock screws are steel for a reason.

    1991 marin palisades mini project.

Nice job, paint look great, what did you use in place of Zolatone? FWIW, I wouldn't give too much credence to the serial number in terms of dating the frame, it clearly has the constant diameter seat stays, marketed as "Afterburners" and introduced on the 1991 bikes.

7 to 8 speed frrehub swap... Does it work?

Not every freehub will work with every hub body, but I have successfully transplanted an 8-speed LX freehub onto a 7 speed M732 Deore XT hub so it could well work. You might have to change some spacers or bearing shields. Don't forget that you will have to re-dish the wheel or it will sit...

    1988 Marin Palisades

No difference, just a year-to-year (or possibly international) variation, in the same way that some Eldridge Grade bikes are simply stickered "Eldridge".
