Tubeset nerds - explain Ritchey Logic Super Tubing

Well, what's strange about that bike is that it has the MT6X Deore DX group including the wide profile cantilevers, but the narrow profile M650 DX canti's were introduced for the 1991 model year. The decals applied are all later than that to my eye, and the paint - def not the orange/grey...

Tubeset nerds - explain Ritchey Logic Super Tubing

Good info, thanks FC. So am I to surmise the seat tube on the Hammer is Prestige, but perhaps not the other tubing? Completely unscientific, but the P23 top and down tubes have a noticeably higher "ping" when flicked with a fingernail.

    Marin Team Issue M900 BIN

Re: Re: :? That's a bit harsh, I own a 1991 Eldridge and a 2001 Chameleon, and whilst I love how the Marin looks, I'd still choose the SC over it for trail riding. Terrible listing in general though, no frame size mentioned, foolish mention of being offered less than the BIN price by a...

1993 Giant Chaos - Hardly turned a wheel type condition

Re: 1993 Trek Chaos - Hardly turned a wheel type condition Very clean, odd choice by TREK to use a Giant model name and decals though... Do love that black LX kit.

Tubeset nerds - explain Ritchey Logic Super Tubing

So I'm finding myself a little confused as to the meaning of the Ritchey Logic Super Tubing decals on a couple of my bikes, I know that this decal was commonly applied to tubesets selected my Ritchey but actually manufactured by Tange. What I don't understand is why very similar decals are used...

Sean Kelly KAS Gold Vitus! NOS!!

Re: Re: Well, I based that comment on my 57cm 787 fitting me perfectly - I'm 6'1-1/2". Maybe I'm just a funny shape - T-Rex arms.

Vintage Rocky Mountain with unusual features.

Lol, can't stay away from the retro, no matter how I try. You should check out the thread I've just posted in the road bike section, maybe you know some more background information on a somewhat obscure "Rocky Mountain". http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... 8#p2659238

Rocky Mountain branded Vitus Futural 787 CX

So I recently acquired this beautiful old cyclocross bike, an aquaintance of mine who collects vintage MTBs picked it up in Toronto thinking he'd use it as a commuter, but it was too large for him. It happens to fit me perfectly! The Futural is probably better known in Europe than in North...

Vintage Rocky Mountain with unusual features.

Yes, 606's bike has identical lines to mine, easy to compare as it's also wearing slicks. Post is seized in mine too - a job to look forward to! That's a great looking bike, wish mine was original paint, def. same frame though. I have a zero-rise Syncros stem just like that in the parts...

Vintage Rocky Mountain with unusual features.

Re: Re: It's funny it has the older wide profile cantilevers though, another thing that makes me think it might be some sort of touring variant. Other than that, specification matches Hammers of that era, just never seen a Hammer this colour, and I'm sure they made a lot more than 315 Hammers...

Vintage Rocky Mountain with unusual features.

Hoping for RockiMtn or DeeEight to weigh in on this one - I have in my possession a nice Rocky Mountain from the early 1990s (maybe late 1980s), it's very clean, but is missing downtube and toptube decals, so I have no idea of model. Notable features are twin bottle cage mounts on the...

    Weird Specialized Hard Rock dropouts.

Thanks for the replies, I guess I was hoping for a "so obvious I should have thought of it" type solution, but Archemists safety washer theory has merit, I've just never seen safety washers on a rear wheel. Surely not for wight saving, I mean it's a Hard Rock for starters, and how much would...

    Weird Specialized Hard Rock dropouts.

We have a 1995 Hard Rock sport GX in the shop at the moment, it was set up single speed with no tensioner. In my many years of wrenching I've never seen the like of it - anyone know if there was any special reason for this design?

Bike of The Month June 2013 - The Poll

Awesome! Huelse, I certainly meant no offense. Your Ibis is beautiful, and will (likely) be a worthy BotM winner. I just voted with my heart.

Bike of The Month June 2013 - The Poll

Not sure what flavour the Ibis Kool-aid is (maybe two flavours?) but people seem to be loving it. For me, seeing a mountain bike photographed in a studio takes away some of its credibility, also I'm pretty sure ABMX painted up a Curtis Freestyler something like that around 1986 ;). Nate's Team...
