Campagnolo frame? No such thing? What is this

Sadly, it's a not-very-well-made (see the rather crude work at the rear dropouts and the very average lug-work), run of the mill frame, possibly CroMo, possibly not, that someone has stuck Campagnolo logos onto. Even though the fork is either engraved or stamped with a maker's mark, there's no...

Help wanted with Campagnolo gear issue.

8s was offered in both the original "pointy top" levers and in the later, post 2000 style more rounded levers. Technically there were two versions of the 1993-2000 lever, the earliest ones without and later ones with, a helper spring at the back of the lever assembly. The ones without the helper...

    Campagnolo 1980s brake block help

Those pads are more applicable to 1990s brakes. My guess is, that you are looking for the square ended pads that preceeded these, currently coded BR-RESR. We should have stock at £22.00 for a set of 4, at the Campagnolo Service Centre (Velotech Cycling Ltd). If not (Im out of the office at the...

Help- campag outer with Shimano/Clark’s inner + lever compat

Re: Both Campagnolo and Shimano use 1.2mm inners for gear inner. The nipple sizes are different, for sure - Campagnolo have always used a smaller nipple than Shimano but a quick skim through Campagnolo and Shimano documentation as published by the companies, reveals no difference in the gear...

Campagnolo Khamsin wheels - replacement Rim advice

Re: Campagnolo don't supply replacement rims for Khamsin wheels, even to us at the main Service Centres - the labour cost to rebuild them, relative to the cost of a new pair of Khamsins makes it uneconomic to re-rim them. There aren't any wear indicators on the Khamsin, so if you are in any...

Changing Vintage Campag hub bearing cups

Yes, it can be done given the correct tools (Cyclus have them as stock items) and you should not need a donor hub, the spares are still available from the factory as they are the same as some of the later generation, non-oversize axle hubs ... Depending on where you are, your local ProShop...

    Campag mech hierachy

Re: Comp, Race and Champ were essentially "unranged" groups. You can judge the level of technology by looking at the double chainsets or the RDs of the time, see the spare parts that correspond across the ranges and draw your conclusions from there. Broadly, Comp was Centaur / Chorus-level...

11 speed silver chainrings for Campag?

TBH I'd have to have a measure-up. Leave it with me, I'll be able to confirm for you tomorrow. I'm up at the workshop and have Athena bikes as well as Record 2011 bikes there so a direct comparison is easy ... My gut says yes but best to be 100pc sure!

11 speed silver chainrings for Campag?

You have to be careful mixing and matching Campag rings - they are not all the same thickness and you can hit issues there because the rings are supported from both inner and outer sides - so if you get a mismatch of ring thickness, you can end up with a kink in the rings where they pass behind...

11 speed silver chainrings for Campag?

Re: Actually, there is a reason - it means that the ring is correctly positioned relative to the outer, so that the tooth timing is right - if you move the ring round 1/5 of a turn, the teeth on the inner ring don't align correctly with the ramps and pins on the outer to get a smooth shift...

    Campag Mirage Rear Mech Question

Cage length is "a factor" but not "the factor" in gear capacity and tooth capacity - esp in retro situations where the gear hanger / dropout configuration is potentially a lot more complicated. Cage length has some influence over how much chain can be wrapped but again it's not the only factor...

Help needed Campagnolo cassette how to put together ? A- G

Re: Re: It was designed so that rather than be stuck with a fixed combination of sprockets, you could (in theory at least) get the best of both worlds - slick (for the time) shifting and a choice in terms of what sprockets could be used and in what order, in the cassette. It's interesting -...

    Campagnolo 10 Speed Shifter Question

Re: Hi MartinB123 & Rickster ... Thanks for referring to our FAQs - much appreciated. There *can* be (generally not-too-severe) problems with running RDs designed for Escape (2002-> Xenon, 2004->Mirage, 2007->Veloce & Centaur) and PowerShift (2012->Veloce & Centaur) RDs with the older-pattern...

    Noisy Campagnolo Record front brake

Re: If it were me: Check the brake spindle is straight - if the bike has been crashed, sometimes the spindle gets bent to the left where the adjuster side whips round and impacts the downtube. Check the two nuts on the front of the brake are tight against one another and that there is no play...

Inside my Campagnolo freehub - how to fix?

Re: Hi Jim - I wasn't taking any kind of sideswipe at you in any shape manner of form - you did exactly what I'd have done. I was referring to the OPs original retailer, who faced with something they clearly didn't know anything about, then took the easy route of saying "just buy a new one"...

Inside my Campagnolo freehub - how to fix?

Re: Re: It's lack of product knowledge - but in fairness, you can't know everything. If someone came to me with a broken shock I'd never seen before, for instance (being more road-oriented) I might not know the answer ... Unfortunately, the question is then around the willingness to admit...

Inside my Campagnolo freehub - how to fix?

In the UK, current RRP is £84.50 but of course the box-movers probably have that cut back to almost no profit margin now ... Some bodies have to be repaired as they can't be replaced as they are no longer in production - the old steel 8s bodies, 8s Ti-cassette bodies (alloy with deep, evenly...
