I took a pair of those Avid levers of a Mongoose Iboc Pro SX with a combination of V's and Cantis. Not found a use for them yet, I prefer shorter levers. I'll put them up for sale soon.

There's a reason why they stopped making and selling them after a while?

I have few sets of Shimano XT V brakes with parallel push and I had trouble with noise and vibration. I have Avid 2.0 brakes on my Tempest and Shimano LX (same shape as the red DX sets) brakes on my Tequesta and they work just fine.

Nothing wrong with the braking power of U-Brakes, if well set up they work just fine!

They're a worthy investment, I'd say! And you'll find excuses to use them again and again😊

I remember the 200GS that came fitted on my 1991 Trek Antelope 820 bitd, not impressed by the function or looks of those shifters/ levers combo. The bike was kitted out with a full 200GS groupset and it was a bike I was not sad to get rid of!

The left thumbshifter clamp of mine needed straightening up a bit, took shifter off it's mount and a large adjustable spanner and after some gentle persuasion it's now where it should be, job done.;)

back in 1993 I bought a '93 GT Zaskar and besides the frame and a Pace RC35 forks, the most expensive part I had fitted was a £350 Topline red anodised crankset with Pace chainrings, I couldn't afford to do that now, sadly.. Spending nearly £750 on just a rear derailleur seems a bit excessive...

That would look great on a highly polished GT Zaskar! Or even any high end GT, for that matter.;)
