TOLEDO CYCLES LONDON N18 - HAVE YOU HEARD OF THEM?

At last! I have some details! I posted an enquiry to the nice people at the National Cycle Collection;- http://www.cyclemuseum.org.uk/ Within a few days of my enquiry, Scotford Lawrence of NCC wrote back with a scanned image from Cycling Magazine of 15th August 1962. It's a road test by...

Where can I find 1960s back issues of Cycling Magazine?

After a lot of searching; viewtopic.php?f=12&t=197483, I've finally found some information on my Toledo road bike. The nice people at the National Cycle Museum found a road test in an issue of one in 'Cycling', dated August 15th 1962. They sent me a scan of the page, which I've uploaded to...

Mystery SPD Pedals - Can you identify?

More out of curiosity than anything, I picked up these pedals for virtually nothing on Ebay, because the seller didn't know what make they were. They were a bit stiff when they arrived, but a strip down and fresh grease brought them back to life. They're on my bike now and work very well, with...

Friction Washers; Where can I get them?

I've had a good dig around in my pile of shifter bits and although the boss dimensions are fairly universal, the actual layout and thickness of the friction parts varies quite a lot. The particular part I need is a thin, hard, plastic washer, which probably started life about 1mm thick. -I'm...

Friction Washers; Where can I get them?

I have a braze-on boss to hand, the dimensions are;- Diameter: 8.9mm Length: 10mm Across flats: 5.8mm Depth of flats: 4.9mm I'll measure the washers later.

Friction Washers; Where can I get them?

No, but I'll get the actual dimensions. The internal measurements seem to be common to all friction shifters. As far as I'm aware, the braze-on and clamp-on bosses all have the same diameter and distance across the flats - correct me if I'm wrong.

Friction Washers; Where can I get them?

I have a variety of downtube and bar end shifters which are useless because their friction washers are either worn out, damaged or missing. Is there anyone out there who has a stock of these? Failing that, does anyone have a work around that uses commonly available plastic washers?

FOR SALE - Peugeot Offensive 23 inch Frame

I don't like it, but I wouldn't call it 'offensive'.

    Re naming a frame?

Remember to get some good close-up photos and measurements before you lose the original transfers.

    Re naming a frame?

There are a few specialists who can produce one-off water-slide transfers. They cater mainly for the miniature model enthusiats (trains, model aircraft etc.), but they have the facilities to print good quality transfers. I'm currently looking for a good supplier for my Toledo (see my post...

-When I said it's fully assembled, I meant the bike, not the leg!

TOLEDO CYCLES LONDON N18 - HAVE YOU HEARD OF THEM?

Just a little update. Another Toledo frame & forks appeared on ebay a couple of months ago. The same item appeared on London Fixed Gear & Single Speed classifieds a few days ago. I've had no progress with tracing the origins of Toledo Cycles, where they were or who ran the business despite...

TOLEDO CYCLES LONDON N18 - HAVE YOU HEARD OF THEM?

From Old Ned;- "There was a road test of a Toledo bike in a 'Cycling' magazine in the early 60's." What would be the best way of tracing a copy of the test?

TOLEDO CYCLES LONDON N18 - HAVE YOU HEARD OF THEM?

Hi Ned, At last, somebody who's heard of them! I'm afraid the logo will be a disappointment to you, it features a laurel wreath, a crown at the top (George VI, I'm told), olympic rings at the bottom and an 'Old English' "T" in the centre. I'd love to post some photos, but I haven't yet...

TOLEDO CYCLES LONDON N18 - HAVE YOU HEARD OF THEM?

I bought a really nice frame a couple of weeks ago, it has Nervex lugs, they lugs seem to be typical Nervex, they match all of the pictures I've been able to find and the bottom bracket is stamped "NERVEX". The drop-outs are stamped "CYCLO" and the seat-stay tops are a nice, double-fluted...
