    Ebay "auction" site

I think upthread got it right, the fees for sellers are getting out of hand and the only way to mitigate that is to ask more for the item and the postage. Its only ebay who wins in this scenario.

They took a properly stuck seat post out for me for 35 of your currency units, which was very decent as the lbs wanted 80... I've heard the local Decathlon is doing very comprehensive service for a very reasonable amount. I'm not doing down the lbs, but sometimes they can be a bit too greedy for...

    Sunbeam Restoration

Our local Halfords are actually pretty savvy: perhaps because the manager is a 100 mile a day guy at weekends! He's told me that at least one mechanic in the stores nationwide has been Shimano certified for disk brake maintenance and Di2 proficiency. That's a big step up from the Halfords of old...

    Ebay "auction" site

I remember the early days of Ebay when fees were around 5%. What is it now 12%, or more? I rarely use it now as its just too much grief, as a buyer and a seller. I'm amazed that no one has come up with a dedicated cycling auction/best offer site. Reverb.com have done really well for musical...

    Ebay "auction" site

Yes, thats a good point. Hiding the actual accepted offer keeps the pot on the boil and the sold price artificially high. Great for ebay revenue, not so much for everyone else

    Best Find at the Dump?

We had a tech salvage place near us for a while, I think it's gone now. People who worked there were mostly voluntary or on 'schemes', the stuff that passed through the place was incredible : Dell Servers stuffed full of Xeons and masses of ram, HP plotters and large format printers, top end...
