    Lightweight Bottom Bracket

I happen to know that a 68-113 UN55 is 240g (that's on my scales), which is pretty light for £12. If that's not quite as light as you were hoping for, I'd recommend saving the weight somewhere else maybe. I found that BBs are not a cheap place to save weight off a bike. Next cheapest/lightest...

    Normal wear and tear !

WOW. Just sent them a message. lol Someone else should send them a message posing as an innocent, interested buyer who hasn't realised the forks are bent. Ask about the bike history etc. and see what they say

Looking for brands/models of ladies bikes with 26"

I agree with a lot of your post. There is definitely a lot of bike nonsense around . Sheldon is an amazing source of information because he always seemed to look at every bike subject with a scientific mind. Not accepting anything at face value and questioning everything, including all the...

Looking for brands/models of ladies bikes with 26"

I would second hamsters comment about sloping tube bikes. The reduction in stiffness makes the bike all wobbly and more difficult to handle when loaded, but I can definitely understand it's more convenient for using in town. Also agree about changing out the stem to fit the bike. Makes a HUGE...

Looking for brands/models of ladies bikes with 26"

The trek 820 is a nice all around bike. I'd say though, that if you wait a bit longer, you might be able to find something lighter and with a higher grade of components (like deore lx or xt), for that price. Usually, with retro-bikes, you only need to pay a small amount more for a bike with...

Show us your slick tyred MTBS

All your bikes are awesome. I think MTB's look cool with slick tyres. Like tough little racing bikes :P My Team Marin wearing Marathon Racer's. Pretty quick and lots of grip (on road) Coventry Eagle Ghost with Marathon Plus's. You can leave the puncture repair kit at home with these tyres...

Desert Island Tools ( sort of )

Favourite is probably coffee. Most useful is the very unglamorous, paper towels/cleaning cloths lol.

    Ride or Build

I found myself having this kinda problem too. The never ending bike build . I'd prefer if my bikes were all running all the time, but it's difficult sometimes. Waiting for parts to arrive, adjusting this and that, swapping parts out for something better/more suitable. Sometimes it just...

Looking for brands/models of ladies bikes with 26"

Perhaps she plans to cycle a lot in skirts and dresses. If not though, can I suggest that she doesn't go straight for a ladies bike (with the typical more slanted top tube) as it could be totally unnecessary for her and could very easily limit the quality of the bike she ends up with. There are...

    1994 Team Marin - sub 20lb :)

Another good point. Cheers :). Had been meaning to, but left them long for the moment. I had some Issues with the front brake inner getting caught on the derailleur cable ferrules. Left them long as I thought it might help with this.
