Lightweight 27.0mm seatpost (210g or less)

I think I may have found a couple of good 27.0 options on ebay. Have ordered them both and then we'll see what the scales say :). The first was a random alloy post someone was selling (£8.25). The seller quoted it as being 210g and I should be able to cut this one down to just under 200g. The...

Lightweight 27.0mm seatpost (210g or less)

Re: Re: Cheers for the suggestion. That is a good idea trying a smaller size+shim so I'll have a look on ebay as well :). Do you say that for any particular reason? Is it maybe that 27.0 post diameter is just harder to come by? Maybe I got lucky with the 190g woodman post I mistakenly bought.

Lightweight 27.0mm seatpost (210g or less)

I thought I'd found the PERFECT seatpost for my lightweight MTB/tourer build. Excitedly went to fit it today and lo and behold I bought the wrong size . As a result I'm now still looking for a seatpost. If you have anything please let me know :). Looking for something which is: -27.0 mm...

    To restore? Carrera Krakatoa Evolution

Re: I was trawling eBay yesterday for interesting bikes and remembered seeing this Carrera Krakatoa. No bids so far. Maybe you could offer the guy £25 via a message and you could end up with an entire set of original spare parts to choose from. Then just put whatever is leftover on the for...

    Woodman GT2 27.2mm x 350mm Seatpost. 190g

For sale is a very lightweight Woodman GT2 seatpost. Bought by me very recently only to discover it's the wrong size (doh!). I have just added postage on top of what I paid so won't be making a profit on this. -27.2mm diameter -350mm length -190g exactly (on my scales) -Good condition -some...

    Lightweight 22.2mm cantilever brake levers

I'm after some lightweight (preferably 130g or less for the pair), 22.2mm flat bar cantilever brake levers which take the barrel/MTB type brake cable. The levers are for a lightweight touring bike build. Aesthetics of the levers is not anywhere near as important to me as function, but some red...

STOLEN GT LTS Thermoplastic & PROFLEX 856 - MANCHESTER, M21

So sorry to read about your bikes :(. It's so shit that there's still a massive market for stolen bikes. You got a frame number for either of them by any chance? Maybe you have a reason for not wanting to post it though. May scare the thief away from selling the bike and thus make it even less...

Bike Doodling...frame art - Inspiration needed anybody tried

Re: Re: You can buy paint pens rather than using sharpies. A friend used a black one on a custom guitar pedal, then clear coated it on top. Turned out really nicely. A steampunk bike would be AWESOME. You could use metallic gold and copper sharpies. You could draw cogs, cams, shafts...

Just bought a mysterious bike. Coventry ghost e-stay MTB?

Re: Re: Just looked up the Townsend and it's not bad looking IMO. Nice dropouts for a single speed too. For some inexplicable reason though, I find the pointy little chainring triangle kinda funny. Kinda looks like a standard bike frame and an e-stay frame had a child together and the Townsend...

Just bought a mysterious bike. Coventry ghost e-stay MTB?

Re: Re: Just imagine, you go to all the trouble of custom making your own bike including machining that hilariously MASSIVE chainring, but then accidentally put the fork on backwards . Kinda tempted to try this out on one of my bikes. Maybe those Asda adverts for bicycle shaped objects...

Just bought a mysterious bike. Coventry ghost e-stay MTB?

lol. I see what you did there  Well spotted on the groupset! After some zooming in and comparing with other bikes it seems that the bike has a Biopace SG chainset. Have learnt something new today. Still can't tell what the rear derailleur is though. For anyone else who doesn't know...

Extreme weight weenieism. Lightweight bike + DIY panniers

Thanks very much! If you already have some ortliebs, then you've got nothing to lose :). One thing I didn't mention is that I got the parts from a pair of front panniers which have a smaller upper rail part (Same as Ortlieb spare part E170 I think). The rail from the more common 'back roller'...

Just bought a mysterious bike. Coventry ghost e-stay MTB?

Just bought a bike off eBay on a whim. Got a very good bike to pound exchange rate of 1-15. he he. I love the paint scheme - I hope that's a paint scheme rather than some astronomically bad paint cracking. What most interested me was the fact that the chain doesn't run through the chainstay - I...

<<<WARNING>>> Extremely long weight weenie post. Practically NO BIKE PORN WHATSOEVER. I'm overweight!! Where are all the Light+Cheap MTBs

I was also a little bit confused by the colour of the bar ends, stem and bottle cages. They are all Marin lite (as they should have been), but are a different colour than expected. I think the owner had several Marin bikes from the same era so some parts swapping has gone on. There's probably an...
