I have suggested a bike packing trip and volunteered to sit up front to do the navigation. Jamie does not seem enthused by my kind offer... :)

StrathPuffer time is approaching. Time to dig out the proper bike. Poor thing was put away wet and muddy the last time I rode it 2 years ago. Drop of oil on the chain, tyres needed another 2 psi. These single speeds are so unreliable! Found plenty mud and deep wet ruts, but needed a decent...

It's good to see eBike racing is a thing. It will spur battery development and lighter motors. And the bit that interests me, the development of BB gear systems.

    Loch Katrine Loop

This is why I wear sandals and wool socks. No need for bridges or planks. Feet dry quickly. :) Sounds like the sort of route I love. It's not really a proper ride without a bit of hike-a-bike.

Been off the 'net lately (thanks BT) That's a proper bike Velo. Sadly I won't be there. Don't worry about the brakes, there's plenty room behind the downtube to wedge a foot against the tyre.

The answer is sandals and wool socks. Dry out fairly quickly if you're working hard.

    And today I did......

Jamie is such a kind lad. He realises I'm missing my dog, so he's decided to reunite us. The other day we arranged to meet halfway between his place and mine, he was to ride down from Thurso and I'd ride north from Dingwall. Thinking I was going well, I texted him from the top of the Struie to...

    And today I did......

Ran up to View Rock at Contin (about 420 feet climb) Pleased that I can still manage it. I haven't been running for a while since my dog started her decline. Now that I don't have her it's odd to be out running without 65kg of wolfhound to bowl me over.

I was out yesterday with the Highland Classic Bike Group on my old Voodoo race 26" MTB now converted to gravel bike with 2" tyres on 29er rims. We rode up the Great Glen Way to Abriachan from Inverness to the cafe in the woods there. The cafe has no roof, no walls, a very boggy mud floor, a...

It's been up more mountains than a lot of mountainbikes. :) Just been out again today trying it out on all the local hills. It's got up all of them so far. Some nice single lane roads around here. Ideal for single speed. :) Also found this fine looking wee fellow. Got a bit cranky when I...

Getting lazy so dug out the old Bowery singlespeed for a bit of Tarmac Aversion Therapy, aka road ride. (The Bowery is my bike from Oz which I took over here last year) Headed up the hill to the Highland Cafe for lunch. A bit of heavy breathing was involved, but a surprisingly easy climb on a...

Re: Re: As the crude types say when eyeing off someone else's girlfriend,"I'd ride that..." I've always admired those Orange frames. As few frills and bits to bugger as possible. It's the sort of frame that appeals to those who like simplicity.

Re: Re: Looks just the job for the beaches and bogs - apart from the horrible dangly thing at the back. (That's not my usual prejudice, a derailleur is no fun if you're doing hike a bike through heather, and there's lots of worthwhile hike-a-bike stuff where you are. Sadly there's no option on...

Re: Re: You are missing out on this That's just Sth Harris. Then there's the beaches on the west of the islands. So good that photos of them have been used to advertise tropical islands.
