Dawes Galaxy - Refurb - a few problems.

Re: Cheers. I'm ok with old BB's. It's press fit and the like that intimidate me. I'm intend to have to go at this one from the left anyway and probably won't undo the right at all - assuming I could, you know what they can be like. Interesting about the front derailleur. This one wasn't...

Re: Re: In Hailsham. I've seen quite a few Enigma bikes at "The Freewheel" cycle cafe in Dargate. Lovely looking bikes, but they all had a metallic finish.

Dawes Galaxy - Refurb - a few problems.

lol. I used to love an arcade game called "Tube Panic". yes, I might have made an error in ordering a 27.0 - but it was only a £10 stem. Good idea for sanding it, I'd never have thought of that. Though there's no rust down there at all, that I can see. I've just this minute pulled both...

Dawes Galaxy - Refurb - a few problems.

Re: It is 531, frame and fork. Super Tourist frame, afaik. It's so tight I don't expect to get 30cm of 72.2 stem into the frame however much grease I use. I've ordered a 400mm 70.0 seat stem - warning duly noted - if that fits too easily then I will get a 72.2 replacement.

Thanks, brilliant. I was looking at something very similar on the same site. The adjustable pivot version, about 1/3 of the price. re. the stem. What's the max length you'd put into a D. Galaxy?

Dawes Galaxy - Refurb - a few problems.

Hi everyone. I've finally got my hands on a Galaxy* and cosmetically at least it's in fine condition. Chocolate brown. Hello! I think it dates from the very early 80's, the typical mix of Japanese and GB parts: Weinmann 610 / 750 centre pull brakes. Suntour VX, ft & rear. Sakae cranks. (what...
