All sorted now, thanks for the replies, ended up getting some XT cranks from PaddlingPool Matt and a friend kindly provided me with a free pair of single sided M324 SPD pedals to get me started on SPDing.

Current bottom bracket is 68mm x 122.5mm with square tapers.

Any Joy with the bottom bracket yet? I have a similar bike (Race Elite) and am looking to replace the chainset and bottom bracket at the moment, just wondered if you had details of the shell size and width? Good luck with yours. -Greg
