Wanted for my first retro project

Point taken.... :D So realistically. What should I budget for lets say a 90's steel affair (not awfully fussed about brand price more important than desirability) that is able to be ridden but very much in need to TLC?

Now that was some inspiration. something like http://images.americanlisted.com/nlarge/retro_mountain_bike_diamondback_160_southwest_10605041.jpg? I guess looking at the for sale the Konas are going to be more than i want to spend for a first retro.

The stuff i liked from way back when would have been a BMX. I have looked and there is no way I could afford or justify the dent in the family budget to scratch that itch. I also think i might look a little silly riding round the streets on one at at my age :D

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Would it be rude to ask for potential pointers? Had an hour or so in the for sale section and not found anything that looks remotely suitable that is still for sale. Is it just a case of keeping an eye out and getting in first? or should I post in the...

Suggestions for a first time project

Have been lurking for a while and admiring some of the beautiful bikes on here. Could anyone suggest or point me in the direction of a suitable bike to start out with. I think I have gleaned enough to know that I want something steel. A complete bike would be my preference. I would prefer it...

Wanted BMX for long time non rider

Thanks for the offer. I would have to say i was hoping for something that "looked" like something from my youth. That is a bit like the stuff i see the kids on in the street. DP freestyler would be dreams come true but I certainly can't afford the money that '80s bikes command. I guess I...

Wanted BMX for long time non rider

Gentlemen, First post I know but I have been lurking for a while now. Been off bikes since about 1985-6. Recently bought a MTB and been out on it a fair bit. Sadly it is not scratching the itch I have. I suppose I want to relive my youth and for that i am going to need a BMX. I looked in the...
