    Halfords International

Halfords International Road Bike Can't find any info on this model, which I picked up on a Car Boot : I was going to try to convert it to some sort of 'poor man's hybrid' with MTB bars, and gears, as I've got a dodgy back, but Im not sure if it's (a) possible, (b) advisable, or (c)...

98 Orange Clockwork 10th Anniversary Ed Project

As a bike newby, I'll hazard a wild guess here : Fix the puncture ? then throw a leg over it ! Seriously, I would keep my eye open for a pair of original rigid forks, (In case you ever want to sell it) and as I myself have got some Marzocchi Bombers on my Orange E4, can't help...

    Freehub removal

Not yet ! I was very thankful and somewhat relieved when the shim removal actually worked, and the existing grease was enough (just) to hold the small bearings and allow my reassembly. Going to refit the Cassette, lockring etc. recheck, and as I work outside (of G/F's flat). I'll leave...

    Freehub removal

:D Success ! Took courage in both hands and used the ' Bodger's Dodge ' (snipe nose pliers) shown on the previous page to THIS one : http://www.instructables.com/id/Rebuild ... -of-parts/ CLOCKWISE to Undo ! (as stated) Removed the thinnest of the shims (shown above) and managed to...

    Freehub removal

Here's another view of the Freehub from a slightly different angle : A 10mm Allen wrench will rotate easily inside, without touching the sides  which made me 'guesstimate' at 14mm. No markings on hub to help, but took out 1/4" Ball Bearings from EACH side of the Hub (thought...

    Freehub removal

Hi Guys Bought a (circa 2003) Carrera Banshee which had some 'play' in the 9 speed Cassette. I've stripped it down, as far as you can see: The play seems to in the Freewheel bearing, but I'm unsure how to renove the Freewheel, and whether clockwise, or anti-clockwise. Do I buy a Big...

    Specialized Frame ???

Just received the following e-mail from Specialized Customer (UK): The frame in the picture looks a little like a Hardrock of 2003/2004 vintage. Although it has been resprayed at somepoint so identifying it with any degree of certainty will be very difficult. Cheers y'all terminator

    Specialized Frame ???

Cheers Guys @cyfa2809 and mike franks: Measured the Frame now (which I should have done at the Car Boot ! ). It's only 15" ! Drat ! I'm only 5' 5" but it might be a bit small even for me ? I was intending to source all the neccessary bits from a 'donor' 2004 Carrera FS Banshee and...

    Specialized Frame ???

Maybe one of you Specialized Guys out there may be able to help me out identifying the model of alloy frame I picked up at a Car Boot the other day. The Frame markings are : P1 JC 30211 and what appears to be : BI 1267 Curiously, Specialized Customer Service (UK) has no record of...

My First Orange MrO Update 20/9/12

Are you sure you didn't get it from the Swedish or Austrian Army or anything ? I would call it: Chieftain or Challenger, cos it's built like one. A few stencilled WD 'arrows' wouldn't go amiss either. :P Cheers, have fun :) terminator

Advice on approaching dogs while cycling anyone?

Well if it's a 'Rotty', how about : Raise feet to handlebars, and kiss arse goodbye ! :P Troublesome dogs always remind me of a (very) old single picture cartoon: Two Teddy-Boys. One, heavily bandaged, head to foot, saying to the other one, in his 'drapes' : 'I don't mind a fair...

    Bone headed question- Pace forks

Not familiar with MTB's as I used to be a 'biker'. When Discs were first introduced and for a couple of years they were mounted FORWARD of the forks. Presumably the sheer Mass of the Bike thrown foward under braking, far outweighed any tendancy for the Caliper or Pad to be dragged forward...

    Orange E4 info anyone ?

Hi Anthony Many thanks for your input. I would certainly like to know if it is genuine or not, without removing the BB paint, especially as the seller barefacely claimed he had ridden it, the week before sale, in spite of the cassette freewheeling in BOTH directions, on arrival. :shock...

Orange E4 - did they get disk mounts?

Sorry, belay that. Seems like I was talking out of my Bottom Bracket ! Seems (from one website) that Orange fitted the Manitou SX-R fork as Standard to the E4. 'Googling' another (Enduro) website for SX-R overhaul, clearly shows DISC fitted but stubs for V-Brake spindles, as an...

    Orange E4 info anyone ?

Thanks very much, sylus, for your very quick reply, and your 'links' :) I've downloaded the photos for future reference, and any other shots of E4's. Of particular interest is your Catalogue, although only reproduced in part, it intriguingly mentions the 'top routing of a hydraulic :o...
