Any help please - what is this lovely old SS/fixie?

Re: Hi Mike, yes, if that is a 'C' it is a post war Carlton, I don't know why I said older in my previous reply, as I believe an 'A' would mean 1939, never seen a 'B' serial number ( war time ? ), I think the 'C' serial numbers started in 1947/8. I've had an 'A' flyer and it had a Chater Lea...

Any help please - what is this lovely old SS/fixie?

Re: Hi, lovely carlton flyer, may I suggest it may be a post war one, 1946/7, as I believe the pre war flyers had a Chater Lea Bottom Bracket, I can't make out what digit is in front of the serial number, that will determine the range of years, if its a 'C' it may be older than 46/47. Terry

    Huret Champion Du Monde

Re: Hi, if it is the one I think it is, isn't it a Simplex tour de france copy, similar to the Huret tour de france, if so, either of these derailleurs maybe a good place to look. Be aware I have a Huret tour de france, that is sprung different different to the Simplex and is 'normal'. Terry

    Claud Butler Frame Numbers

Re: Hi, I believe as a generalisation, during the thirties and forties the first digit is the year and then the month, and then the number. I've not seen this pass 1950, where I believe it switched to a two digit year. The troublesome ID's are late 30's, late 40's ones, as not a lot changed...

    Identifying old frame, Hetchins/Claud Butler?

Re: Hi, nice frame, just as a first thought, not much time tonight, what about R O Harrison,, it looks forties or a pinch early 50's, so 1954 is a possible for the build. Does it take 26 or 27 wheels, what's the dropout width, a fashion for that pump position did happen in the early fifties...

Please help me identify this old girl! Think she's British?

Re: Hi, I would just like to question your statement about the serial number, as this may be used as a reference at some point, according to your reference URL, doesn't this make this frame, the 1671st frame built in April 1947 ? In 1947 the system used until the end of production was...

    Condor Courfaivre Identification

Re: Hi, it is an interesting frame, the 531 decals point to 1977 to mid 80's, not a lot about Condor from Courfaivre, the only things I could find was http://www.speedbicycles.ch/velo/210/condor_1951.html and http://www.swissbicycles.com/category/condor/ . Looks a respected Swiss builder, keep...
