Re: Hi, agree with midlife, looks a 1970's Dawes Galaxy, check under the paint for chrome on bottom half of the forks, and back 'end' of the stays. No experience of Dawes serial numbers I'm afraid. Terry

Re: Hi, I've got an Evans from 1946 and the serial number is in the early 6000's, in exactly the same spot, so at a guess 1947-48, it certainly looks about that date, most manufacturers were using pre war stocks at this time, the tanged dropout points towards the year. Terry

Re: Hi, a few years have passed Tom, I don't have that Claud any more, but the pictures are still up. I think mid/late 40's is exactly right, my doubts with another look is the position of the serial number. If you could scrape the paint off one of your dropouts, there could be a 'CB' stamped...
