Why are drop bars so narrow, ie 46cm max?

Well on first impressions it seems like a brilliant idea, so they are on their way to me and I will report back....who knows?? my thinking is that if I fit them to a 720mm flat bar (on order) and space the drops about 500mm apart, I can mount a bar end mirror on the end of the overhang on the...

Halfords are selling them for £6.99 which is ridiculously cheap they are worth 3x that, they are excellent quality and should last forever HOWEVER one thing to watch, the striker is held on with a star washer, I did have one come off and the striker came off....it cant go anywhere so it can be...

I always have a big shiny "ding dong glock", I have tried those silly pingers...i rate them only moderately above useless, but these are fab and elicit a pleasant response from pedestrians, you can ding dong from about 50 mtrs and still be heard, £7.00 !!, here it is in action...

I am going to give these drop bar converters a try

I reckon they will be brilliant, it should mean that you can have your drops as wide or as narrow as you like and just transfer them easily to other bikes as required if you sell/ change bikes. Flat bar brake/shifters are MUCH cheaper than for drop bars and flat bars are also...

I am going to give these drop bar converters a try

These have intrigued me, I struggle to find drop bars wide enough for my liking, there are gravel bars around now but the quoted 55cm width etc is often at the flared drops, its very hard to find drop bars that are over 460mm wide on the hoods and even if you can they tend to be very expensive...

    Mudguards....do you use them ?

Hmmmmm I wonder if they will be any good, anything SKS I have bought has been good, so you are in with a chance :) , I am using ESEGE chromplastic on the Dawes which is what was fitted when I bought it (SKS and ESEGE may be the same company ??) and they are both big, wide and rock solid but I...

Electronic Groupsets.....good idea or utterly pointless for most people ?

Of course you are correct, but for some strange reason, saying these things makes people angry, extolling the virtues of this new gear seems to be fine though.....strange

    Mudguards....do you use them ?

I have never had a bike without full mudguard fitted (apart from the 2 times I rode the Dartmoor Classic when I owned a Felt road bike). I go out off-road with a bunch of guys now and again and am the only one that uses full fitted mudguards and the only one that doesnt get covered in crud, I...
