    please educate me on kona...

There is a bit of history mentioned in these articles... http://www.mtnbikehalloffame.com/induct ... =99&mID=94 http://www.mtnbikehalloffame.com/induct ... 99&mID=122 I had seen a TV show about these fellows. It gave the impression that there had been a falling out among the...

    Rocky Mountain - authenticity check

Uh, yeah, je pense que non. :? The dead giveaway other than the overall crappy nature of the beast is the cheap cable routing on the top tube. Run, don't walk, away from this dept store jobbie.

    joy of repetition

I post this because I wonder if there may be some like-minded people (probably 35 yrs old+) in a musical slant. I went to see Stereolab here a couple of months back, and the warm-up act was Hot Chip. Never had heard of them before, but were they a lot of fun. They reminded me of both...

    8 speed thumbies

I, too, run 7/8 speed XT thumbies with 8 speed cassettes, no probs. But I must say, those SJS ones are pretty intriguing. Bah - 9 and 10 speed cassettes prolly just wear out more quickly anyway. (and cheers for the link, Mr Scum.)

    rocky mountain

Fusion was the entry level Rocky, not the lightest, spec'd out with Deore DX, or even Exage Mtn in '88. Would've been abt CDN$650 for the whole bike new, years ago. Hierarchy was something like TiBolt/Thunderbolt/Tantalus, Altitude, Blizzard, Equipe/Avalanche, Hammer, Fusion. Happy bidding!

    Rocky Mountain Altitude - 1991?

I'm having a tough time with the year on this one...it might just be a 1992. That one seems to have come with the Rock Shok. And the colour of the fork is just too perfect a match. There is currently a 92 catalogue listed on eBay.de, and he has a photo of the Altitude for that year in the...

    The 'Introduce Yourself Here' thread

I'm stoked to find there are a lot who are as chuffed about old hardtails as me. I was thinking a site like this was needed and was very pleased to find it. I think a pendulum is swinging somewhere... I lived on the bald cold prairie of Canada until I was 38, then had the amazing fortune to...

    1988 Rocky Mountain Avalanche

Not much is original on this bike...seatpost, stem, u-brake and ratty old saddle. Everything else was upgraded or wore out. Except for the original crankset - some gorilla with a wrench overtightened the bolts and messed that up :x It originally came with Shimano 105 headset and hubs...

    Rocky Mountain Altitude - 1991?

Scant, thanks, I'd appreciate a copy of that review. This is a scan of the Altitude in the RMB brochure for 1991.

    mess of rockys

Oh, yes, I ride them. The all have their own characteristics...one fits very well, one has a nice 'ba-twangy' feel to it , one rides like a couch, and one's bloody fast 'cos it's a road bike. Now that I'm in Vancouver, I'm thinking of getting a deKerf custom built by the man himself. I hope...
