Thanks for the renewed interests in this thread the bike ended coming out great and I think I posted completed pictures on a different line of posts but that was a long time ago. I have not gotten new top tube decals as they were a bit steep from the sources available. I think however I will be...
It has single position vertical rear dropouts it would be very hard to make into a single speed so if that is what you are after keep looking. Otherwise if it feels good and the price is right then why not, at least it wouldn't be a big theft target. wink.. wink...
Beautiful!! Thank you for the close ups! Very nice of you to share, it makes me want another project but I have been unlucky recently which is great for my pocket book but not awesome for my bike addiction.
Looks great the touch up respray is spot on as far as I can tell great job looks like a nice ride! Some more close ups would be great if you have the time. A refurb worth being proud of.
Thanks guys for the nice words. Believe it or not the paint job is a combination of Auto retouch spray paint and model paints. Lots of primer and spray coats and probably not quite enough clear coat to finish it off. I think I might end up investing in a paint gun for other projects since this...
Some more pictures! With the panniers I put together! Rode the bike to work and up to my parents house and thought I would get a few more pics of the bike. Hope you all like them.
Very nice! I usually prefer all silver comps but the black looks right on in this build, nice accents to the white. The rear mech. ties it all together, artful.
I just think White is classy! Some white touch up paint can help blend the scrapes away I had to do that on that Regal. I glued the torn leather down and used a paint marker to make the tear blend a little better. Just a thought. Good luck!
WOO HOO! for you. My goodness that is an amazing find, I have got to look into some more sheds I guess.
Are you going to L'Eroica this October? I will be there!
Congratulations again, I am green with envy.
Thank you all for the kind words it was a labor of love, and an experiment with my abilities as a painter. I try to ride it three times a week if I can without neglecting the px-10 or the Aerospace Pro. I don't like to play favorites but the Competition might be it with the PX-10 a close...
I have more pics of the process but I thought I would start with the before and after. It was a very fun project and the first paint job I had ever done on a bicycle I had some fun with it and I know I deviated from the original paint job but I love the way it came out and the bike rides great...
