OK, I know it's 98 and probably sacrilege but can I fit a 1x10 on my 98 gt zaskar or does it require some modern geometry?

I'm after the "U" shaped bit that goes under the seat rails....... The 3rd bit down in the pic, though I'm sure you all know...

Just spotted this....is it a genuine Zaskar?, I've asked for the serial number, be ideal to replace the one I had nicked 8 years ago.....

I'm after the following parts for a 1997 Kona Lava Dome build for my son, Shimano LX or XT, preferably XT. Rapidfire 8 speed. V brakes with levers. Rear mech. Chainset. Wheels. Cassette 8 speed. Must be in good useable condition......cheers.
