1994 Kona Fire Mountain SS build...

TBH I'm quite pleased with the quality of the paintwork. I had to do it outside so it was hard getting an even coat due to the wind. (even my mrs drew the line at resprays in the kitchen and she spent today merrily cleaning our modern bikes in the kitchen sink with an electric toothbrush!)...

1994 Kona Fire Mountain SS build...

Finished the build with the exception of sorting the brake cables which are a bit short. So it went from this... http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=40022&highlight= To this... (excuse poor pics, it's dark and cold outside!) Forks and stem...

    Singlespeed chain tension...

How tight should it be? I'm of the impression that the tighter you can get it the better... Just got the brakes to set up/adjust and then my first build is done! Looking good too, even if I do say so myself...

Some one tell me a really good joke.

Whats the difference between a Ferrari and a garageful of dead hookers? Most truckers haven't got a Ferrari

    Blue stuff wanted!

Thanks for the offers guys but not what I'm after... Anyway, as it turns out I'll be flogging the bike as soon as it's built anyway - nowhere to store it at work and I won't be keeping it out in the rain. :(

Things you've learnt during your builds...

My Kona just needs 1 or 2 bits of bling and then it'll be finished. It's the first retro build I've done and a few things have become clear... Getting a frame resprayed is infinitely easier and no more expensive than stripping it, buying paint, painting, and finishing... You need a plan...

    Retro Trends

Well screw you guys! I've painted my Fire Mountain white, stuck on some random bits and pieces of non matching retro kit (some of it anodised) that was kicking about, made it SS and then picked the finishing kit from a madison catalog with a blindfold and a set of darts. It'll look...

    Applying decals...?

The time has almost come for the decals to go on my Fire Mountain SS bodge following the respray done by my own fair hands... (Mmmm White frame, graphite forks and stem 8) ) Anyway, 2 questions - Anyone got any tips for keeping them level and parallel? And any advice for getting them on...
