Help please. I’m wanting to fit some Salsa Cromoto or similar rigid forks to a 1997 GT Avalanche frame I got recently. The frame is 16” (centre of top tube to centre of bottom bracket), 21.5” top tube length and a head tube of 110 mm. The original suspension fork would have been less than 100 mm...

Well spotted. I didn't notice the integrated seat clamp in the catalogue photo. I have a couple of 2000 frames from Ava 0.0s and they have the integrated clamp and disc mounts - the tubing is 7000 series and takes a 27.2 mm seat post. The frame in question is 6061 tubing (if the sticker's right)...

Thanks very much buddy. The '97 German catalogue has the ball burnished Avalanches as "7000er" tubing which I assume is the 7005 aluminium. Mine has a decal on the seat tube (down towards the btm bracket) indicating 6061-T6 tubing. The '97 Zaskars had this tubing but the curved end plate at the...

Any GT experts around? Just picked up an Avalanche frame?? no sticker. Ball burnished. Black "GT all terra" decal on seat tube. 6061-T6 tubing decal. V-brake bosses, no disc mounts. Welded plate instead of a bridge between seat stays. Curved plate at end of top tube. All expert guesses...

I've ordered a set from Freemans - not big money (£15) (but postage was £8 - eeek!). Anyway, they were recommended on here so I'll see how they go. If I'm disappointed I might end up with chromo-plastic, but fingers crossed...

Wanted for a 1991 GT Karakoram I'm building up as a touring bike. To fit 26" wheels and tyre width of 1.5 to 2". They don't have to be mint, but not bent and twisted please. Fixing bolts not essential.

Thanks guys. I assume Bugloss is talking about English v French threads. I've already had the Sun Tour freewheel on and off the old Shimano hub easily - I'm guessing the Shimano freewheel will fit the Shimano hub nicely ... but with this game, you never know - I've had a few expensive...

I have two 14-28 screw-on freewheels. Shimano says 'index', Sun Tour doesn't. I'll be running a single chainring with friction shifting at the back. Does it matter which freewheel I use?

Yes, something like that. From a bit of research I've done it could be 125mm, but I'd like to know what yours measures if it's not too much trouble.
