Re: Mavic x517 or similar ! May be selling my merlin malt i bought new in 2001/2. Had it built with mavic 517, full xt group, black spokes. Will take some pics but would have prefered to sell as a pair. Frame has a hair line crack in the head stock so looks like i'll be splitting down

after a full set of avid ultimate v brakes, including levers in black. must be either NOS or as new condition, no scratches or marks. had a set lined up from a LBS but then was told they didn't have any ! need to finish a build as its been put back months with work commitments etc.

Re: Raleigh Kellogs only things that have changed since new are the tyres, seat and handle bar grip. rest is as it came out of the shop. I do remember the white seat and tape from when I got it as yours is showing. think it deserves a clean up.

not a huge distance from me. I send regular pallets to Salisbury. if you wanted to pay for it, id collect, bring it back to work and send on the next load to Salisbury. just a thought ?

normal car body shop. foc as he does quite a bit for me through work so will go in the booth with the next car being painted ! and agree with you. not period correct or anything, just a bit of a modern twist. everything bar the frame and forks are new / nos.

little update. stickers arrived from Gil on Saturday morning. very quick turnaround and very impressed. id had a set made in 2011 / 2012 team carbon style. just applied them this morning. frame now going to the paint shop to be lacquered. was planned to be ball burnished but reading comments...

I've been in touch with Gil and he is doing me a special set. don't want to say too much yet and they are going to be one -offs for this build. not period correct or anything like that as the build was never planned to be a 2001 build. the vapour blasting was done by www.fjaquablasting.co.uk

that's the dilemma ! is it worth sending the frame off for burnishing ? don't want to build it up as it is then strip back down. think I may just go ahead as planned and get it burnished.

Re: think that will be the plan. build list I have in mind is pace rc31 forks, then full hope bb, headset, wheels, brakes etc for a nice little lightweight ride. will only be for going through the park / woods with my little girl. nothing extreme, just a nice looking bike.

this is mine now. just bought it and signed up. had a 2001 merlin, bought from brand new, hardly ever used. gave it a clean at the weekend and the headstock is cracked ! everything from the merlin will be swapped over for a full xt build
