My 1994 kona cinder cone result! Pic update

Re: My 1994 kona cinder cone result! Agree with Plus one, Ritchey cantis work really well. I had a '94 Cinder Cone in '94 and the brakes were awful. Last year I picked up a '95 CC and expected to need to switch to V-brakes but was amazed that Konas change to Ritcheys was so effective. I don't...

Kona Explosif 1997 - "look, a golden bike!"

Re: Kona Explosif 1997 - lovely stuff - finished on P3 Great minds think alike. I have never liked the primary yellow of the Judy fork, and have also been a great fan of Pace forks since my first set of RC35s that I had on my '94 Cinder Cone. So, since I also believe that Kona sold their bikes...

    1997 or 8 VooDoo Hoodoo

Thanks Anthony, very interesting stuff indeed. I think I've been to Chico, on a 1981 trip to California. (Sorry, that wasn't interesting at all!)

    1997 or 8 VooDoo Hoodoo

What makes you say 18.5" Anthony? Must admit it doesn't look like a 16" but you can tell just by eye? Don't know a whole lot about Voodoo, other than it was Joe Murray designed and (I believe) the same geometry as the mid-90's Konas. Looks like skinny tube steel, but what type? Er... you...

    1997 Kona Kilauea size 18

Never one to get off the fence unless pushed I have a '95 Cinder Cone and a '97 Explosif.

    1997 Kona Kilauea size 18

Blimey, someone wants this even more than I do! Is it because it's a '97 or because it's all original components? No close-ups and no mention of scuffs, chips, dents, chain wear or anything. Taking a chance aren't we?

    Kona Kilauea 1996 18"

Oooh, I like this one, I don't have a '96 yet... 8) Agree though, the risers look really odd with the long Velocity stem. Very interested to see what the winning bid will be.

    Kona Cindercone 1994

I know what you mean, I bought a '95 Cinder Cone which still had its original tyres and although it is great to have all original kit I keep them for photos only. You can't get them any more so if you intend to ride (what else would you do on such great bikes!) then wear out something that is...

    Kona Cindercone 1994

I used Panaracer Smoke (rear) and Dart (Front) when my A:\Drive and B:\Drive wore out. They appear to have been re-issued as I found a German site that sells both. Google the tyre names and you should find it. Also Ritchey Z-Max were around in those days and are still available and a very...

    Kona Cindercone 1994

Actually that is the original colour of the tyre. They had a low carbon content (to allow them to be coloured) and as a result tended to wear very quickly. My first MTB was one of these, albeit the version with the Marzocchi XC51 fork. Great bike. I've ridden Konas ever since.

    show the steel........

Thought I might join the party, seeing as I've been meaning to post pics but haven't got around to it. I'm sure you don't want to hear the history of these three. If it ever stops raining I'll try and set up some really nice pics.

The OP said (...check out the one that sold last week on ebay for over £400) So I thought it only fair to share pictures of that very bike. Yes, it was over £400 but the condition is fantastic. Despite being 15 years old it still has all original components with wear left on the tyres and...
