While I agree that $5k is generally absurd for any retro mtb, this seems to be the "dentist's" going rate for Kleins, and Funks are considerably more rare. And I think the comparison is valid because Funks are essentially e-stay Kleins, and this one is a superb example to boot.

I had the same model, albeit with a unique paint job that faded from red to black instead of the yellow/red/black. My recollection is that this was a pre-trek frame, and the 94 signified the trek influences. Could be wrong, but that's what I remember.

Boy...yeah...the never ending refurb. Lots to say. Firstly, the Mg alloy used on these forks is highly reactive, in that it will start oxidizing the second you have them stripped, and indeed they're oxidizing now, which is what is causing the discoloration under the old tinted clear coat...
