Wanted: cheap & cheerful 26” wheelset

Thanks all. @longun - in all honesty most of what you have left would be wasted on this bike! @brocklanders - I'm in south Oxfordshire so a fair way from you - appreciate the offer but postage won't be cheap I imagine. I think I'll have to keep an eye on the local FB marketplace/gumtree...

    Today's Ride

A nice 20-ish mile loop yesterday evening once things had cooled down a bit! Had to give the new HS33s a good test. Few PBs coming down some nice fast singletrack. Gorgeous evening.

Wanted: cheap & cheerful 26” wheelset

I’ve been presented with an otherwise perfectly serviceable chromoly-steel Trek 800 that had its wheels nicked a while back. Does anyone have an old set of wheels knocking around anywhere? With or without tyres is fine, but a 7-spd rear cassette would be a nice bonus! It’s a pretty base spec...

    Magura HS 33 question

Funnily enough I’ve just fitted a set (a good 15 years after I last fiddled about with them!). I’ve kept the QR on the front brake as I’m more likely to have to take the front wheel off to get the bike in the car, but after a bit of trial and error I didn’t bother with he rear. TBH if I’m riding...

    Today's Ride

Yesterday evening's effort, heading up the Ridgeway out of Wallingford before looping round to Park corner and back down again. ~22 miles, and largely quiet which was nice! Spot the Chinook! :D Still loving this old thing. Although I wish the chain would stay put on the bumpy downhill sections.

    Time for a rant, prices

A mate at work asked me earlier about a bike local to him he was thinking of buying cheap (!). I've just seen what it sold for  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MENS-APOLLO- ... 7675.l2557 I really hope it wasn't him!

    2000 Marzocchi Z4 - adjusting travel?

Ah, gotcha. Looks like a kit is needed - 2 new compression springs and 2 new top-out springs. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction :)

    2000 Marzocchi Z4 - adjusting travel?

Hi all I have a pair of MY2000 Marzocchi Z4 (coil spring) which are labelled "Coil System - 80-100mm". The stantions currently measure ~95mm so I guess they're on the lower 80mm travel setting, which fits with the amount of movement I'm getting at the moment. Before I blindly dismantle them...

New member - and help ID my Univega?

Afternoon all, Thought I'd pop in and say hi - a quick intro, and (of course) a question or two... As a teenager growing up in the Surrey Hills I was massively into biking - when I wasn't hacking around the woods I was poring through MBUK mag and building jumps in the garden. I never really...
