    £30 Rockhopper

Re: Seller tells me the BB and seat post 'don't move so assume are stuck.' Can't be doing with wrecking another bike trying to free off rusted parts - I'm out!

    Today's Ride

24 miles yesterday up the Ridgeway and round through Swincombe woods on my mongrelly old Univega. Felt really good, despite the rain!

ID help please: Univega Alpina Pro/Comp?

Now that’s a turn up for the books! Thank you - given how close our serial numbers are I’d wager my frame can’t be more than a year (possibly two) behind yours. If nothing else it confirms I’m posting in the right bit of the forum :D I’ve gone through you photo in detail and can’t see any...

ID help please: Univega Alpina Pro/Comp?

Hmm. Yeah, there's a small amount of rust around the BB and chain stays which I need to clear up. Worth drilling a couple of drain holes in the rear stays? Or is that a terrible idea? :D

ID help please: Univega Alpina Pro/Comp?

See, I thought that initially but a) they're way too low down (towards the BB) to be of any use and b) the spacing is the same as the other bottle mounts. Hamster makes a good point that they could well have been added - sounds like this is more likely than the other option, which is that they...

ID help please: Univega Alpina Pro/Comp?

Thanks (that looks stunning, btw!). It's the additional bottle mounts on the bottom of the down-tube which are throwing me, as I've not seen them on anything else :?

ID help please: Univega Alpina Pro/Comp?

Hi all I wonder if there are any Univega experts around who can help me with an ID? I've had this bike kicking around for several years, purchased as a cheap singlespeed built by the previous owner using his spares box, and subsequently tinkered with by yours truly to make it a more usable...

£10 ! Viper B-52 bomber jump slalom frame in red SOLD

Re: £10 ! Viper B-52 bomber jump slalom frame in red ...huh. I used to have one of these back in the day! Don't suppose you still have it kicking around? I'm a fair way away but will be heading near you at the end of July/beginning of August so could always swing by, if you still have it...

    Time for a rant, prices

It's really interesting to see the parallels with other 'worlds' here - on the one hand, these are old bikes that have had their numbers reduced overtime through neglect, loss, breakage, etc., and on the other there are people who now can afford to buy the objects they couldn't afford in their...

Dang, too slow. Second dibs on the stem, please? I'll take the bars though either way. Like you I'm too new to send PMs, so I'll drop you an email shortly :)

Looking for advise on adding disks to old Yeti

Could you swap in a disc-compatible fork, and run a disc up front and some HS33s (or whatever your preferred rim brake is) on the rear?

    Magura Brake Booster

Indeed it has. Presumably removed to fit wider tyres (as I've had to do in the past).

    Today's Ride

They are a fairly voluminous 2.2". Initial impressions are good - they're noisy as hell on the road but nice and fast rolling off it :)

    Today's Ride

I had a couple of hours spare yesterday so headed up to the Ridgeway for a nice loop. Not too busy, fortunately, which is always a risk! New tyres (Bontrager XR2 Comps, if you're wondering) were a welcome addition as it's pretty rough in places!
