    1970s Carlton International

That's kind of what I thought. Thanks Shaun. If anyone else is interested, it's here on gumtree - http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/old-v ... 1074802569 - in Alvaston, which I think is in Derby.

    1970s Carlton International

Ah, if only it were that simple. I've also got the offer of a Fondriest bike for £85, which is ready to ride now, and a limited amount of space. And weight is a big factor... Here's a photo of it, which is pretty much all I have to go on. Plus it's in the East Midlands and I'm in Manchester.

    1970s Carlton International

Hello - am still learning about the world of retrobikes, looking for a retro racer and have had the offer of a Carlton International from the early 70s for £20. The frame is white with red and green stripes. However it's quite rusty. I know Carlton have quite a following, and were absorbed...

    Advice for a complete novice

A slight tangent here, but do you know if that Townsend is still available? And is it anywhere near Manchester? I have a friend who's 5'1" and struggling to find a good cheap retro road bike in her size...

Handbuilt lightweight with Campag / Cinelli groupset £250

Like my Peugeot which is for sale on another thread, this is a reluctant sale as it's a 60cm/23.5 inch frame, I'm only 5'8" and those two things have proved sadly incompatible. It's been lovely to own it, to try and work out what it is, but at the end of the day it can only sit in my friend's...

1986 Peugeot Triathlete Reynolds 501 frame & forks £160 SOLD

Reluctantly selling my 1986 Peugeot Triathlete, as it's a 23 inch frame, I'm only 5'8" and those two things have proved sadly incompatible. Selling for £160 just to make my money back, hopeful of finding it a good home - has been recently serviced and refurbished with new white Cinelli cork bar...

    Raleigh Stratos Barnfind

Re: http://veterancycleclublibrary.org.uk/n ... brary).pdf Assuming the spec is similar to the 1983 catalogue, and the fact that it's a Nottingham-built bike rather than a Worksop one, I'd say that's from the upper end of Raleigh's mass-market range, with a fairly heavy high-tensile steel...

    Frame painting in Cheshire/South Manchester

That's incredible. Most places seem to charge three figures. How do they do it? (or is there something subtle I'm missing? I'm fairly new to all this)

eBay find of the week... a Raleigh with 531 tubing

Well, this is all very interesting... all I've been able to find about the SunTour AT1000 was this scanned brochure - http://equusbicycle.com/bike/suntour/ca ... 200008.pdf which suggests that it was originally a mountain bike derailleur and is heavier than the rest of SunTour's range at the...

    Frame painting in Cheshire/South Manchester

Thank you - again, any idea of prices? My parents live near Stoke so it might not be a bad shout. It's for this http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=274771 which I got off eBay for £23 and am looking to restore. (apologies for invading the MTB forum with a road bike query, but it...

eBay find of the week... a Raleigh with 531 tubing

Re: Thank you - very useful information! Presumably if the surface rust proves not to be terminal. having the frame stripped and repainted will be the way to go? Cosmetically it looks beyond an easy repair. Would the chrome forks and stays make it more complex and expensive? Looking at the...
