Thanks, I found the tuning guide eventually. The compression damping adjuster was wound all the way in, which I've eased off and it's much smoother now.

I've finally got my (1996) Z2s on my bike and to be honest I'm not impressed. The Mag21s they've replaced seemed to be much smoother and I can't feel any of the famed Z2 butteryness which leads me to believe they're not setup properly. I've tried playing with the preload and rebound/damping...

The P-clip is just for a mudguard so you can ignore that :) If you have some adjustment from elongated holes in the caliper, you could actually use 10mm thick plate and drill the holes centrally. This is what is mine is because I couldn't get 12mm S/S plate For example, there's a good 4mm of...

It's 10mm stainless plate and it's over-engineered for sure, so there's scope for saving a few grams with a bit of drillium here and there. I'm not too bothered about the weight so didn't go too deeply into trying to make it super light.

You don't obviously, but you can move the quill stem to adjust height

I've got a threaded headset that hasn't come loose in 30 years so I'm not sure what people have been doing to make them slack off... As mentioned already, ahead is better for manufacturers requiring fewer steerer lengths, but it's arguably is a worse design because if you cut the steerer too...

I think most BB standards since square taper have been designed purely for saving money in manufacturing and assembly. My LBS told me they love the new standards because they're much easier to service, and they need servicing very regularly!

Re: Marzocchi old IS to later IS brake adapter I've seen that before described as a trek fs adapter. What spacing are the holes? FS is 48.5mm and IS is 51mm. If it's the trek one, a couple of the holes I think will be around 22mm

So i'm going to try and make (or rather get made by a friend) a straight FS to Post mount adapter rather than mess around with the hammerhead adapter and spacers. Hopefully it'll be quite simple as it should just be a rectangular plate with 4 holes drilled and some bits cut out. I've worked...

Can I ask how many people need FS to IS and how many (like me) actually need FS to Post Mount and would just use the hammerhead adapter as an intermediate stage?
