As fluffy said they are relatively easy to change out. I would be happy to teach someone in the UK what to do so that you would not have to send the crowns to US for replacement. I have been in contact with the manufacture who makes steerer tubes for the OEM fork manufactures. They have 1 1/8"...

The ebay springs you referenced would not be an option for your fork. They are too long and the diameter is too wide to fit inside your top cap. Those springs were also designed for longer travel forks so those springs take a longer distance of travel to reach the peak spring rate resulting in...
