    Marin Jersey

Marin Jersey. I always wanted one of these to go with my vintage Mount Vision 98 but alas I don’t have my 98 figure anymore. I think this is from 1998 and looks like the one Paul Lasenby wore (see pic) It’s made by Pearl Izumi and looks stunning. I don’t think it’s ever been worn outdoors...

Marin, De Rosa & T Mobile Jerseys.

I seem to make a career out of buying jerseys that will never fit. Each of the following were bought as ‘used’ but they’ve been in wardrobe for far too long and I’ll never lose enough weight to squeeze into them. In any case, I need to fund this years Sandstone Way adventure, So here goes...

    Change of name?

Has MTB >1998 onwards changed its name to merely Bike Chat 1998? I’m easily bewildered these days. Just checking.

    165mm long shock

Re: Nice collection! Forgive my ignorance but do any of them have lock out switches? That XC Pro looks interesting - never seen one with the valve in that position.

    Cove Stiffee FR

Re: I was very, very tempted to buy this Stiffee when it was up for sale, but Mrs Meejoir was not having it! Looks damn good. I kept working on my Mount Vision rebuild on which, coincidentally, I’ve also currently got a pair of Mavic 321 on Deore hubs. They seem pretty tough so far.

ISLA BIKES FOR SALE - 20inch wheel size

Re: Loved it when my kids were on Islabikes - mainly because they were so light you could easily fit them onto the roof rack. Superb kids bikes. Good luck with the sale.

Re: It’s seemingly going to cost a small fortune for bushes to be replaced - I never had any play in the old Shockworks unit! Pah! Modern technology! (2003 Fox Float R - modern!!!).

Re: I’d been meaning to post on this thread. She’s a had a powder coat of Matt black to the front, and a gloss black to the rear. A full sweep of newish SLX and XT components. Had to buy a another frame (for peanuts) so I could obtain a swingarm with disc tabs - thankfully the bloke included...

    Octalink v1 bb.

Anyone got an Octalink v1 bottom bracket gathering dust at the bottom of a parts bin? Doesn’t have to be new, but British thread and 109mm. I think it’s a Shimano 5500 for the 105 level bb. Got myself a lovely Ritchey Compact WCS chainset and I thought I had Octalink but sadly it’s a v2.

    Marin Mount Vision 1998

Re: I take your point jimo, I had a mate with that set up (19” frame and short stem) but it didn’t suit my riding style at all. I suspect I’m just an odd sized bloke! Ive got to admit I’ve been riding this bike since 1998 with the seat post at the max height permissible with no problems.

    Marin Mount Vision 1998

I bought my first proper mountain bike in 1998, a Marin Mount Vision from the long-gone Denton Cycles in Newcastle. She’s done plenty of miles but always well looked after - that XT series seemed to last forever anyway. Other bikes have come and gone but this one’s seen my through a lot and...

SWAP My Thomson Elite 30.9 for your 27.2

Re: How about £40 posted? 2nd class signed for. I’ve not got the bag, hence the lower price. Can email photos if you like but it’s pretty immaculate.

SWAP My Thomson Elite 30.9 for your 27.2

Re: Got my frame back from the paint shop. Definitely going to need the longer seatpost unfortunately which is a real pain in the rear derailleur, so to speak. Thanks for the offer. Much appreciated.

SWAP My Thomson Elite 30.9 for your 27.2

Re: Cheers Davidj. The frame I’m working on has an odd-ish 30mm seatpost diameter with a 34.9 seat clamp. The Thomson post I’ve got is frustratingly 0.9mm too big but a 27.2mm will fit with a shim. I get the frame back from the paint shop tomorrow and I’ll double check to length I need on...
