I don't think it's a common issue, but if carbon wheelsets aren't treated well it can be a weaker area.

All the ones I see at that sort of price are usually rather worn or have damaged carbon around the spokes, but I understand if that's the budget! Mine will go on a future project if they don't sell- they would cost me more to replace. I also have Dura Ace Titanium Cassette 10 spd if interested...

Yes thanks, it has a Mavic SSC groupset, which the owner is aware of. I was hoping to let them know some info on the maker if I could find that out for them- but nothing obvious coming via online searches and like you, it's not a brand I know, but it's a high end frame!

Was a satisfying 'fix' and saved c.£50 (after taking account of needing another chain whip) and hopefully with those really detailed articles to refer to, others might feel more confident in tackling too!
