A 1st World Problem: Too many not enough bicycles

I don't know about these... does dismantling a bike make it no longer a bike, in terms of counting how many bikes you own? I sometimes wonder whether building some bikes might be a good idea so that I have fewer parts, and more usable machines. What I do know is I can't get to the bikes at the...

Fork axle-crown mismatch, Clockworks and a MF courier mega

At some point I got carried away buying forks which with hindsight are probably unsuitable for what I had in mind. I've got a couple of 98 clockworks which I believe were designed for 440mm a-c forks. I could be wrong, mind. I picked up a nice pair of Maguras (470 a-c) and some rigid forks sold...

Thanks, I’ve had a look through the stash and I have a 118 and a 115… I reckon one should work!

    narrow 11/8" threadless headset

Bumping an old thread in the hope it might be useful to someone... I struggled to find a suitable low-stack headset as the M-Part seems to be NLA. Went for one of these cheap Acor units in the end. It's basic but seems reasonably well made for what it is, and has a nice low 23.0mm stack height...

[RooX]. crankset - what length BB?

I thought I had the right BB for this... but no. Somehow the one I had stashed is for a 73mm shell (I needed 68mm), and a fair bit too long wih a 122mm axle. Anyone know the recommended BB length for these cranks?

For Sale Lovely freshly hand built 26" wheels - DX / XT hubs

Never ridden, only trial mounted on a few in-progress builds. I'll probably regret selling these but I've got way too much bike stuff not seeing any use so it's time for a clear-out. I built these around a very good (rebuilt with new bearings) pair of used hubs. The front is an earlyish XT (I...

    Wanted Cheap disc frame.

Best pic I can do today... It's buried in a dark corner of the cellar - I need to get in there ideally over the next few days but I don't have time at the moment. Model is an XTC something or other. Decent condition with no major damage, it's pretty light and seems a fairly nice frame. £20 plus...

Musing on Muddy Fox, Orange, and Japanese MTB frame manufacture

My frame arrived with 2 stems, both similar in design and with the same cable routing, I think both were MF supplied, but the yellow is original - the black one has a little more rise and is very similar to the Orange stem pictured previously.
