I have zero problem paying a seasoned pro bike mechanic a living wage. Paying a hipster to continue being a hipster is another thing. Its like paying six quid for a latte made from Peruvian monkey jism served up in a 'collaborative workspace' where the walls are lined in OSB like its a feature. You only encourage these guys to keep being surplus.

My eye is drawn immediately to a bent fork, dented tube or cracked dropout.
I appear to overlook a ripped saddle, baggy chain, salt- and pepper-pot top and bottom bracket, perished tyres, bent wheels and awful paint.
Luckily my colleagues are less forgiving on this front.
