If you go the 7-Speed MicroDrive set-up, here's something that is pretty cool. These are Suntour's version of Shimano's Rapid Fire shifters. Be a little different than the more common Suntour "thumbie's"! (These are not mine either, just going down a Suntour rabbit-hole on eBay)...

As stated above, that will not work with a MicroDrive hub. This is not mine, but it is what you would need...

7-Speed is different than 8-Speed and MicroDrive is different from non-MicroDrive. Finding the correct cassette is the hardest part. But a sweet Suntour XC-Pro MicroDrive set-up is cool and shifts like butter when dialed in!

I believe that Suntour came out with XC Pro MicroDrive first and Shimano countered with XTR. I have full XC Pro 8-speed MD on my Klein Fervor. Most was purchased when I built the bike back in 93/94, but I didn't get the hubs until I rebuilt it in 2020. Also in 2020, I found the 1 year only...

The ones posted on facebook are not Stratum 90's, they are Stratum 185's. I've been looking for 90's myself.

If I recall, I just used a small straight blade screwdriver to remove them when I rebuilt my Manitou 4. Either that, or a pair of circlip pliers.

Just read this whole thread, what a gorgeous bike! I think the Onza HO's look perfect on there, myself.

What cassette fits the XC Pro hub? There were possible three different sizes, if I recall. One for 6-speed & 7-speed, one for 7-speed Microdrive & one for 8-speed Microdrive. I think that is correct.

Great looking build. A good friend of mine had a red BotE back in the early 90's. One question, what cantilever brakes are on this?
