Nice :) Classic chamfered seat stays of the Special...
Does Nick Kilgarrif website still work? there was a lot of Holdsworth info on there. the 7 in a diamond is the date of the cranks.
Smart Restoration :)
BITD there were several brands that were made for catalogues (Grattan, Empire Stores etc). In the absence of any leads may well be one of them.
I had a look at the download here
https://www.retrobike.co.uk/archive/1976-raleigh-catalogue.351/
Nothing matches exactly, however, there was a trend quite a few years back to grind off all brazings and convert to a "fixie" with a rattle can job.
Could be one of those...........
1976 Carlton (3rd digit a 6 for 1976).
Crespera lugs and wrapover seat stays in tru-Wel so used on a load of different models.
Easiest to look in a 1976 catalogue for a bike with no chrome, no lamp boss and no brazed rear brake hanger (for centre pull) and that sort of colour.
Carlton has shot in seat stays which were on their higher end models. Giro was one of them but not sure exactly what that is? It also has a Sugino Mighty chain set which is a nice reminder of the 70's
It looks like its from the time when Harry Quinn sold his name to Falcon and they turned out some real tat in his name......
Harry later bought his name back and "proper" Harry Quinn frames reappeared.
Doesn't look very Falcon like, Used to sell them in the bike shop I worked in and it doesn't look familiar.
Theres Mandobob on Cyclechat who I think is the VCC guy on Falcon but not sure if he comes on here?
