Cyfac “Vintage” Columbus Spirit Neo-retro build

I picked this up locally via FB marketplace at the weekend - it’s absolutely stunning and rides beautifully

This is Cyfacs “Vintage” model - still available until very recently - built with Columbus Spirit with cast lugs and crown. The paint on it is absolutely stunning - I was so happy when I went to pick it up and saw it for the first time.

Anyone who knows anything about Cyfac knows how good they are and the extent of their pro racing heritage (Fignons “Raleighs ” at Castorama, for example, were actually Cyfac built frames, as were Hinaults frames when at La Vie Claire).

It came with an eclectic mix of parts including Dura Ace 7400 sti’s and front mech, Ultegra 6700 hubs, Sugino cranks - set up 8 speed and all working really nicely

I’m going to use a modern Ultegra groupset on it with some Hope hubbed wheels, Zipp bars and a Brooks C17 - should have it ready for a ride tomorrow!!

The original parts off this are going to go on the Columbus Nemo Bob Jackson build I’ve got on the go - just waiting for the forks for that and that one should also be ready this week (new thread to follow!)

Did 26 miles on this today - wow, it rides brilliantly - I’m so pleased with how it’s turned out!

Just some tiny tweaks to position needed - I need a slightly longer stem so once that’s sourced I’ll either sell in this one or use it on the Jackson, which is a slightly bigger frame - talking of which, I’ve nearly finished that one now too so will get a thread set up for that shortly…..

I rode this from Lands End to John o Groats a few weeks ago as a part of the Ride Across Britain - 985 miles in 9 days - three punctures and a new set of pads on the front were the only issues on the ride, although I also needed new rear hub bearings a few days after I finished! The bike was superb - so comfortable and cruised beautifully over some pretty bad roads around the country
