Retro_Roy's Mountain Goat Deluxe is the January 2025 Bike of The Month
@Retro_Roy took the first win of the year with his Mountain Goat Deluxe. Bought as a frame only, with original "California Yuppie" paint, Roy was lucky enough to score a Mountain Goat stem, and knows Paul Brodie well enough to convince him to make lovely fillet brazed fork. You can read more here and see more pics of it, on it's maiden voyage, in the January sun of British Columbia. Congrats Roy
Pete_MCC's Formula 1 is the 2024 Bike of The Year
@pete_mcc earned his place in the Bike of The Year poll with victory in the June 2024 competition. This Formula One was possibly the only frame ordered with mounts for cantilever brakes, rather than the factory spec Magura Hydrostops. If you haven't already checked out the build thread then it's well worth a look; a true team effort with help and assistance from several members of the Retrobike community. Congratulations Pete!
Bike of The Month December 2024 - It's a tie!
@Woodsie and @Alla shared the victory in the last competition of 2024, with Canada and Paul Brodie being the unanimous winners! Woodsie's 1986 Rocky Mountain Team Thunderbolt was built by Paul before he left Rocky to set up Brodie Research and Technology Inc. Alla's Brodie Sovereign was born 6 years later, in 1992, and was the top of the line race bike in the collection. Both will feature in the 2024 Bike of The Year vote.
pete_Mcc's Formula 1 wins Bike of The Month June 2024
@pete_mcc took the chequered flag in June's competition with his gorgeous Formula 1. Pete's entry was a true Retrobike team effort, with skilled assistance provided by some resourceful forum members. You can read the full story of the build here and see the full list of entrants and results here We saw 22 bikes entered (may have to revert back to the 20 entries max if this trend continues!) but when the poll closed it was the F1 on top of the podium, spraying virtual Ferrari Trento over the crowd! Congrat's Pete 🏁
Retro_Roy's Off Road Toad wins the BoTM May 2024 Canadian Special
Roy's Toad was the convincing winner of the hotly contested Canadian Special competition, securing over 18% of the votes. Off Road Toads, the Canadian built brainchild of Rod Kirkham, are high up on the wish list of many collectors but they are rarely seen on the open market. This fillet brazed beauty is built up with some of the most desirable parts of the era and is a well deserved winner in the impressive 20 strong field.
KayOs 1950s HWE Rex is the April 2024 Bike of The Month
Congratulations to @KayOs, and his HWE, for taking top spot in April's competition. It's always nice to see something a little different come out on top and it's definitely worth checking out the build thread here. There were eighteen entries in total, with some real top class builds, so taking over 20% of the votes is quite an achievement. See the full line up here. Without further ado here's the winner, in all its moody glory
markjohnson76's 1989 Roberts Phantom is the February 2024 'UK Special' Bike of The Month
That's two for two in 2024 for @markjohnson76, this time with his 1989 Roberts Phantom. Picked up locally, for not much more than a song, Mark had the frame, in all its Columbus Max OR beauty, and a Zinn fork refinished by the Vaz brothers, Winston and Mario, who both worked for Roberts previously. Winston confirmed that he built this frame back in 1989, so who better to carry out the work! You can check out the before and after pics in this thread and see the full line-up in the poll thread. Congrat's Mark!
